Wow, horrible! :(

Bluddie or Chrissy jr lives near this i think and mentioned they heard lots of sirens etc when we were on GTA earlier.

Horrible accident. I go to this airshow every other year or so, and my flat is a mile down from the other end of the runway and aircraft regularly fly over our area (on the way to the sea) and the end by the A27 where the accident happened - this is the Vulcan from last year https://youtu.be/nx11yW5w8C0

If I'd have been down there visiting my son we'd have been at the airshow. Probably not on the A27 there. Gets you thinking.

I've seen the Hunter fly a few times, there and at Duxford. Always a good display. Sincere condolences to those departed, and fingers crossed for those injured, pilot included. Looked to me like the controls seemed to stall - he was very slow pulling back to horizontal until the last couple of seconds. He was so close to saving it.

I feel sorry for all the victims but especially i hope to god there wasn't a young couple on their wedding day in that car :(:( Stories of people dying on their wedding day depresses me in particular

One of the papers says the car was on the way to pick up the couple.

You need a good 44,000lb of thrust to pull out that low and at that angle.... This Typhoon managed it...... Just...........

Watching the videos of the Hunter it really looks like he was just to low and not enough thrust. It looks like he expected to pull out of the loop.

Horrible end but will be intersting to find out what happened.

A few hundred yards away from where I live. If I was home today, I would have been able to hear it hit! :(

Have phoned around, and everyone I know seems to be OK... Very scary... Especially after watching that ******** video... I drive that road every day.

Wow, stuff like that scares me. Seeing major incidents in/on places I would normally be, including friends. Eg the bin lorry Glasgow incident, my friend called in sick when she would normally be smoking right where the lorry crashed. (lunch break)

I used to like air shows when I was younger, but there was a crash one at my local(newtownards air show in northern Ireland) that put me right off as it was close to where some of family always booked tickets.

I used to like them when I was younger, but I hate them now. Because stuff like this always happens. Things can go wrong, and when they do it can be devastating. It seems stupid to put peoples lives in danger for some token entertainment...

So true. Crowds of people, or for the larger ones, stands of people so close to potential disaster. A single mistake/mechanical fault can ruin a lot of lives/families.

With planes as old as 60 year old as well.

Today's society of filming everything (In relation to the aftermath video) instead of trying to help those that might still be alive sickens me .

R.I.P to all those that lost their lives.

This too... Though in fairness I don't think they could have done much for anyone involved :(

First of all, I have to mourn the loss of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident. I spent many a summer very close to that spot, while my step-mother was a teacher at the nearby Lansing College. Those traffic lights in particular, I remember well.

I have seen a lot of negative comments, both here, and in other places, mostly comments about how 'amateur' pilots should not be allowed to fly out-of-date military hardware. Well, for the record, Andy Hill, the pilot in this case, was a formation instructor, light aircraft test pilot, former RAF Harrier GR7 Instructor as well as a qualified instructor for the Jet Provost. He is also a British Airways Captain (A380/B757/B767), and has over 12,000 flying hours. Hardly an amateur.

Yes, airshows are inherently dangerous, and accidents do happen, but the organisers do whatever they can to minimise the risk involved, both to the pilots, the spectators, and the general public.

As for those who say that the aircraft shouldn't have been flying still, well, just remember that XH558, is only a few years younger.

It doesn't "always happen"

Peoples lives are put in danger everyday , I would have said if you didn't want to expose yourself to any risk then stay at home , but then 2 accidents up here lately where vehicles have actually crashed into peoples homes kinds says your not safe anywhere really heh
