Unobservant idiot drivers.

See it all the time at one place on my way to work - ambulance coming down the wrong side of the road all lit up + siren and still people make a right hand turn into another road across its path forcing it to stop.

Emergency vehicles should be fitted with cow catchers like old Wild West trains.

And cameras, not getting out the way of an emergency vehicle should be an offence.

The worst ones are the people who sit behind you at a set of red lights, then the moment they go green they beep at you if you've not already left the line by the time the lights turn green. One woman on my own road of all places was visibly agitated I'd not left at the amber light and I could see her using both hands shouting at me to move along already.

Once a skinhead Astra driver with tintz and pink decals threatened to knock me out

In the old car I'd just trundle along and think nothing much more of it, but now I have a few interesting options to choose from. Though usually I still just trundle along, unless the driver behind acts like a right bell piece.

Driving to work this morning I was in the left lane and keeping pace with the right lane and noticed a car tailgating. I thought to myself I bet he's going to undertake him, seconds later his indicator goes on and he moves left, "Here we go" I thought. During his lane swap we left the A3M and joined the A27. So he just swapped lane and sped up passed the car and yep, right indicator came on and he completed his undertake, but it doesn't end here, he didn't stop after the undertake and moved right another 2 lanes in 1 maneuver, over 80mph, in the wet.

And that is inherently unsafe because? I assume they crossed a further 2 lanes because they wanted to get to the right lane on the A27?

I HATE drivers who think pedestrian crossings are their right of way.

Next time I cross it I will literally stand in the middle and stare at the car who arrogantly thinks that their are too superior to stop.

After nearly 20 years behind the wheel I can assure you, you aint seen nothing compared to what I have seen. :(

Funny time, road by us is 30mph most do around 37 like myself, taking my daughter to dance and seen a police speed check van so slowed down etc.

Then after dropping her off I was driving back down the road and was doing 30, some retard up my backside in a golf was going nuts. He over took and flew past me just before the speed trap, must have been doing 45-50.

Also I wish people would learn to bloody signal before breaking.

'Here lie the remains of jimmy mcveigh, who died defending his right of way, he was right dead right as he drove along but he's just as dead as if he'd been wrong'

The best one I've had was where I've stopped & flashed a HGV through a low arch bridge where the truck has to use the middle of the road & some woman in a mini overtook me.

Don't know where she thought she was going to go as she had to stop dead & reverse back up.

If there's enough room to undertake, the person getting undertaken is in the wrong lane.

I'm guilty of doing this, not always though just sometimes I forget or the pedestrian doesn't get the zebra crossing until the last moment.

Regarding emergency vehicles...my pet peeves from doing blue light runs:

Cars that will pull over to let an emergency vehicle past who stop in stupid places (e.g. Brow of a hill, apex of a blind bend, or pinch point in the road like a pedestrian crossing 'island' or something that doesn't leave a big enough gap for me to get past). Sometimes it's more helpful and safer to keep going just a bit further down the road..

Drivers coming in the opposite direction of travel that seem oblivious to the blue light vehicle coming towards them (it helps if they can create a bit more space, sometimes the only option for an emergency vehicle to get through lots of traffic is going up the middle of the road and we will sometimes position ourselves there so we are more obviously visible in rear view mirrors, to other road users, and have better view ahead and more options ourselves...often it appears people don't even notice us coming towards them, just as much so as people can be oblivious when we are behind them!).

Drivers that panic and just slam hard on the brakes (much more dangerous than a controlled stop/pull over)

Drivers that don't indicate their intentions (if you indicate to pull over then it is more obvious that you have seen the approaching police car, otherwise it's just guess work).

Drivers that indicate left to let us past but then don't actually slow down *at all* (makes getting passed much more dangerous than it might be if they slowed down a bit or came to a controlled stop)

People that think police blue light runs are less life or death than ambulance/fire. Today I went to a job where a man had called police saying he has schizophrenia and felt like killing someone. Last night shift I was on I had a job where someone called the police saying they were going to jump off a bridge. Three weeks back, another job, single crewed police officer triggers his emergency button after being attacked and taking a good kicking from a driver he'd tried to arrest (driver was drunk and on drugs and had crashed his car into a house... Cue every officer available heading to the location as quickly as possible along with ambulance). Then there's endless domestic violence assaults where someone is being beaten and getting there quickly is very important. But still I hear people say they will move over readily for fire or ambulance but aren't so bothered at getting out the way for the police.

That's exactly why I pulled over where I did as I knew the road narrows and also go's around a bend at the apex of a hill ahead of where I stopped. It's wide enough for 4 cars where I stopped but the way the other two cars that overtook me went they blocked the ambulance from getting past.
