Hi guys,
My brother just emailed me to say he wants a desktop with monitor, mouse, keyboard, OS for his Uni work. Only requirements really are that he will be using 2 monitors (he has an old one of mine), can have a lot of stuff running at once, and would like it to be quick.
He doesn't use any graphics/video software outside of youtube editor and doesn't game so I really don't know what he needs.

Budget was £400-600 but he would really like to spend as little as possible.

I would like to include an SSD for the OS ideally. How close to £400 can I get?

Quick look at OcUK system builder I came up with this but I habe no idea if its overkill or if the processor is up to snuff.

1 x "Primo Gold AX" Configurable AMD A Series Home and Small Office PC £175.06

- 1 x Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM (ST1000DM003) £41.99

Any help much appreciated.

You won't get members market with your post count though

Yeah I realise that now!
Bought most of my stuff from here before and would rather get him something from overclockers store so it's not loaded up with crapware.

Anyone got any ideas or thoughts on the build I quickly put together, or any other suggestions?

As a university student, he should be able to get Windows and Office for £15 or so through the university.

If it is NOT ever going to be for gaming, you can get a pre-built one for £387.

Go to Home & Mini PS's >Desktop PS's >"Primo Plus AX" Configurable AMD A Series APU Home and Small Office PC

CPU = AMD A6-5400K 3.9GHz.
RAM = 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz
SSD = Samsung 120GB
HDD = Seagate Barracuda 1TB
NET = TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter
OS = Win 7.

A faster CPU but with less Ram and with a wireless network card.

With the monitor you selected it comes to £473 + Delivery.

If you think he might start gaming it'd be better to buy the parts yourself, would suggest a Pentium K based system for starters.

get this as your base and go from there
