US TV journalists shot dead on air

There is nothing that can be done about gun ownership in the United States, and frankly I think blaming firearms entirely misses the root cause of gun crime: A culture of criminality amongst certain cross sections of society, backed up by poverty and poor education.

Most gun crime does not involve legally acquired firearms. If the US wants to dent their gun crime statistics, the best thing they can do is to make a huge investment in breaking the cycle of criminality that runs through those sections of society.

Of course that wouldn't stop events like this. But the truth is that there is nothing to be done about these type of events. You don't need a gun to kill someone.

Holy crap the shooters own video is chilling!

It's like a real life first person shooter, the fact that he aims at her first and didn't shoot means he had second thoughts perhaps? Unbelievable, hope he gets the death penality.

Also, Americans and their guns

Might be becuase the camera man was not pointing at her as we was panning around, as soon as the camera is on her bang, sicko.

Depending on the bullet and obviously where one is shot, one can survive quite a few bullets before going into shock.

Indeed. People are often very critical when police shoot someone as they empty a magazine but someone can survive a lot of gunshots depending on caliber and location.

Yep, the movies lie to you. People don't go down in 1 shot I've seen it.

This is why police are trained to keep firing until the threat has stopped moving.
