Staying in Soho for a couple of nights with the missus and I'm looking for a bit of advice on some decent places to have a few drinks in the evening.

Staying tonight and Friday.

Any suggestions (no dives) in that area?

Cheers

I hope you don't plan on sleeping much! Soho is mental every night from about Tuesday onwards. Fridays are heaving.

If you're looking for 'nicer' places then the Soho Hotel is good, Ham Yard is apparently nice too. Besides that there's a gazillion pubs, just stay away from the Sam Smith's ones as you'll want to die after about 3 pints. The Crown and Two Chairmen is probably the most 'upmarket' pub in the area but the prices reflect that.

EDIT: More upmarket options.. Duck and Rice, Dean Street Townhouse, HIX, Bob Bob Ricard (I think they still have a bar?)

EDIT2: I nearly forgot The Blind Pig above Little Social restaurant. I loved that place, great cocktails and not too pricey for table service. There's a place called Old Tom and English which looks fun too.

EDIT3: If you don't know Soho then Wardour Street is the main drag. Old Compton Street is the main gay drag, the crossroads of Rupert St/Brewer St is where you can find your resident pimps, drug dealers and more of the gay scene.

Doesn't get much better, but I'd be very surprised if you could get a table at this short notice.

Appreciated.

I'll keep an eye out for those. I don't know London at all.

Were eating at Hawksmoor Seven Dials tomorrow in Covent Garden but out hotel is fairly close to there too.

Anywhere in that area worth checking our or would we be better off heading back into the Soho area?

Covent Garden isn't so great for drinks, it's pretty touristy. Good choice on Hawksmoor though.

Around Covent Garden there is Mabel's which isn't half bad for a loud drink and actually I had food on a Friday night which was really nice. It's opposite the Porterhouse pub which is a bit (in)famous. Lots of choice on beer but pretty rowdy/touristy. That road and area will be heaving on a Thur-Fri to be honest.

Food options around CG aren't fantastic. Off the top of my head without going across into Soho your best bets would be Lima Floral, Tredwells, Dishoom or Wahaca.

Just so you realise how busy it will be in Fri night, most pubs in Soho are absolutely tiny so the majority of people will be drinking on the pavement. That's the way it goes. Seen as you're visiting, if you don't want to be frustrated I'd highly recommend booking a table somewhere like the Blind Pig if you can. Dependent on budget though.

Cheers, sounds like back to Soho would be the best bet.

Not fussed about paying for somewhere decent we're still on our honeymoon and have just flown back into London this afternoon for two nights here.

Dexpends how expensive you're talking though?

We're staying on Frith Street and everywhere is already rammed from what I've seen haha.

Appreciate the help :)
