...Herman Miller Mirra?

I'm after a super comfy ergo chair for my office. I'm sat there for up to 18hrs/day sometimes so want to be comfy.

My current fake leather Ikea one is a right sweaty ball bag inducing nightmare.

Anyone know of an airy mesh type chair?

The mirras can be had for about 300/400£ on ebay, anything comparable for that price new?

Thanks

I've a Mirra and I too can be in it a long time. It is as you'd expect a superb and supportive chair that will look after your back and backside. I too had a heap of crap Ikea chair, the one everyone here raves about and some get annoyed when you dare to criticise it, but like you I saw it for what it is. A cheap heap of crap that is a supportive as greased balloon. I actually visited Herman Miller in London to try a few and chose the Mira over the Aeron due to the front adjustment.

I paid £594 from Well Working in 2013.

Aerons are cheap now compared to what I paid when it was new to market. Only thing I don't like about mine is it gradually sinks over the course of a few hours.

Check out Steelcase.

I've got a Leap V2 and I prefer it over the Herman Miller chairs. I got mine for £200 off eBay, apparently used to be owned by Coca-Cola UK but it's in great condition.

The Aeron has a front seat edge that can cause issues with circulation in your legs, more modern chairs have adjustable fronts to combat this.

Mirra's are very good chairs, the Embody is great if you can afford it. I have a Steelcase Think which I really like as well, but it's not a good choice if you want to play with endless adjustments or want things like forward tilt.

The stuff Humanscale make is very well reviewed as well, I just never got on with it.

All the chairs in the office I work in are Mirras aside from a few specialist ones for people with specific issues. They're decent enough and seem to last up quite well considering there lots of people adjusting them regularly - the sliding arm points to adjust the width appear to be the most likely point to stop working well in my limited experience (they lose the click that keeps them in place) but other than that they're pretty good. Oh and the adjustable back support also tends to unwind itself so it loosens off over time but again that might just be because so many people have played about with them.

If I was going to get one of my own I'd quite like to try out the Steelcase Leap and maybe something by Humanscale to see if they feel any better. The Mirra doesn't feel all that special to sit in (I'm not sure what I'm expecting in fairness) but maybe it's the ubiquity of them that's throwing me off and the fact that so many people use them without issue shows they are worth the money.

Just realised the chairs in our office are Herman Miller 'Sayl' upon Googling the company. Surprised the company gets such praise because I thought they were terrible. Maybe just a budget model?

The Sayl is not considered in the same sort of range as the Aeron, Mirra, Embody etc. It's more suited as a meeting room chair to be used for shorter periods of time. If you need a cheaper Herman Miller chair and you're buying new then the Celle is a better choice.
