A colleague of mine currently has a 206 which is on it's last legs and needs replacing soon.

She would like something a bit nicer (in the hope she'll treat it better) as her husband has an A3 or A4 which she occasionally drives.

She does sub 15k miles so I have just about talked her round from buying a diesel but she does have some other requirements:

  • 1-2years old
  • Low Road Tax (I know )
  • 5dr
  • A good sized & inbuilt Nav console. (A TomTom/Garmin is always an option)
  • Well maintained interior.
  • 'Low' mileage (mid range to us 50-60k).

Budget is up to £10k and she plans to keep this vehicle for the next 3-5 years or so and would like some value still left in it when the time comes to sell.

She had her eyes on an A3 or 1 Series but I think she will be hard pushed to find anything that's a nice example meeting all the criteria above and be within budget.

I would probably negate the road tax limitation if it hugely narrows the choice. She doesn't want or need to spend £10k so if something can be had for less that meets the bill it would be considered.

Answers on a postcard please :)

Thanks,

BennyC

How about something along the lines of a 1.0T Focus? Going to be cheap to tax, decent on fuel, reliable and half decent inside (although it's a bit of a button explosion on the centre console).

Only thing is it might not meet the 12-24 month requirement.

10k would get a very nice clean example of a Renault coupe, very reliable cars as a family member has had 3 thus far each covering 60k every 18 months before being traded back in. And quite nice cars, only downside for some is the small rear window for reversing purposes.
