Asteroid 'to destroy Earth in four weeks' as conspiracy theorists claim September 21 could be our la

Used to have lots of trouble with Asteroids, but my Doctor gave me some cream, and they went away.

Even if it was true what could or would you do?

Bugger all if that's the way you go then so be it, its just life and death. ;)

Nasa have already rubbished this.

They make some very good points but lets be honest if there really was an asteroid about to wipe out life on earth they probably wouldn't confirm it. On the flipside there are so many people involved in that field its unlikely it wouldn't leak out if they had detected something like that.

An asteroid mere weeks away from "destroying" our planet would be visible to every amateur astronomer on the planet and would not be a thing only reported on CT sites and tabloid newspapers.

A few years ago an asteroid was located. If it hit it could have been numerous times more devastating than the bomb on Hiroshima. What is disturbing is they saw it as it was moving away from us!

Define "numerous times more devestating" cause we've set off nukes that are 3000+ times as powerful as hiroshima

I thought asteroids where incredibly difficult to spot, due to them them being small fast moving, previously unploted and dark in colour?

Not necessarily - if its current approach was obstructed by the sun, etc.

He's actually not exaggerating. 'Little Boy' was 15kilotons, while 'Tsar Bomba' was 50000kilotons. (If my Google fu serves me correctly)

I don't think most people can even imagine the difference in destructive power between the two heh - drop a little boy sized bomb in the middle of London and people would barely be aware of it outside the city (slight exaggeration but not by much) - stick a tsar jobbie down and most of South East England would be just... gone.

If their really was an asteroid going to do considerable damage, would they really let the world know? Causing mass hysteria, panic, riots, looting etc?
