I thought asteroids where incredibly difficult to spot, due to them them being small fast moving, previously unploted and dark in colour?
A very large one capable of actually smashing the earth to bits would probably spotted.
A small one, capable of just say, obliterating a major urban area and disrupting the world climate, we probably wouldn't see coming.
What happened to Magick?
He was 100% convinced 2012 would end us all along with the Lizard people.
I don't think most people can even imagine the difference in destructive power between the two heh - drop a little boy sized bomb in the middle of London and people would barely be aware of it outside the city (slight exaggeration but not by much) - stick a tsar jobbie down and most of South East England would be just... gone.
Let's just spin this a little.... IF an asteroid capable of worldwide devestation or at least capable of devastating half / quarter of the world were to hit Earth... would the Government / NASA tell us ? I can't see it - there'd be mass hysteria and crime wouldn't there?
he apologised and said he was wrong

I thought that the aliens has come and taken him away since then.
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood"
I'm going to sell my house and spend, spend, spend.
Otherwise
I know there are some people here who know a lot about this sort of stuff, what are your thoughts on the below stroy from the Mirror?
link below shows a nice set of pictures that should give folks a better idea of scale and comparison..

another bit of fun info, the Red Army had initially wanted tsar bomba to be twice as powerful!
thankfully they settled on 50mt and then decided that the weapon was far to unwieldy -for military purposes
methods of delivery were too difficult (i.e. it would end up being detonated long before it reached it's intended target)
