My sister in law has moved with her family to Halifax, Nova Scotia where her husband is a senior marine engineer. Whilst he earns a good salary they are feeling the pinch a bit compared to his previous assignment in Shanghai. My question is can someone outline the income tax liabilities for an immigrant in Nova Scotia on an annual salary of CAN $ 100K?

$30,737 in income taxes: $17,596 in federal tax and $13,142 in provincial tax.

After-tax income is $69,263. Average and marginal tax rates are 30.7% and 43.5%.
