Going on holiday with gf this Wednesday. first time abroad and was wondering what to take for check in and the actual holiday ?

For the last 20 years I've used the same spreadsheet list and tick them off.
Obviously some things may change over time.
For me it's simple things like: glasses, shaver, phone charger, power bank and so on.
Mrs Dimple remembers the rest.

A nice big bottle of drink (a litre is good) in your cabin luggage

Due thread title, please note, this is not a serious reply
:-P

Get an all in one travel adapter (good for future trips!)

and pack a medium length power strip

The power strip has two advantages:
1) You only need one travel adapter
2) It solves the problem you sometimes get where plugs are in hard to reach places

My second piece of advice is: Don't get stressed about remembering everything.

Do the "wallet, phone, keys, PASSPORT, TICKETS" check before leaving the house and everything else you can buy that you forget.

Relax, enjoy.

P.S. Remember to poo through your own letterbox so that any robber who tries to break in notices the calling card of fellow burglars and thinks that the place has already been emptied.

Passport, clothes and monies. That's all you need :)

Edit: Just seen the powerstrip thing also, took one to Japan recently and it made life so much easier!

One thing I'll be buying for the next holiday is a multi USB charger.
We had 4 chargers for 6 items but only two plug sockets in the room.

Yeah, power strips are a great thing on holiday. Despite their size they don't actually take up much room and are nice and light.

Added bonus is even just allowing you to have your phone charger next to your bed lets you keep the habit of making sure it's full.

People will tell you "why can't you take a break from technology?" but to me, being able to relax is knowing I have everything available to me to answer my questions or get me out of a jam. I definitely don't take my phone to the beach :)

I'll even slide a power strip in my rucksack when I take a weekend trip to the lake district because no doubt the sockets in the B&B will be in stupid places.

Power strip would solve this problem AND let you charge the devices in a better location :)
