This will do more than just insure the future of Graphics Cards.

AMD and SK-Hynix have put a lot of work into this and every vendor will benefit from it, but more importantly so do we, no mater what Colour GPU one runs......

I think the development of this technology is commendable, especially the amount of work put in for an open standard.

AMD and SK-Hynix deserve recognition for it.

Please keep this away from all the poisoned threads.

If AMD are one of the developers of this ram, wont nvidia have to pay them a licensing fee to use it?

AMD king of open standards. :D

More seriously though, although the open standards model of doing things is great and all that, as a business practice, I'm not sure its the best way to make money. I cannot think of one really successful company that gives loads of its tech/IP away, whereas there are loads that are really, really successful that are tighter than a proverbial tight thing, on national be tight day.:)

And 10 years later the Fury X is all they came up with ? lol. I dont expect anything from AMD to be honest, but to say they have been working on something for 10 years and come out with 4gb of vcrap, is exactly why 80% of people dont buy AMD

It took a culmination of multiple new technologies to get HBM where it is today. And many of those only matured recently.

And i have not seen Nvidia come up with anything in the last 10 years that was usable by everyone, or something that was a technological advancement. HBM is going to be used in more markets than just GPU's.

You also would not have a number of technologies that Nvidia is using without ATI/AMD creating them.

Yeah its a bit rich to be critical of AMD and then reap the benefits of the work AMD (Not Nvidia) put in.

LambChop fails to realise they is components inside his system built from ATI/AMD... What is he going to do?? LC how does that make you feel known ATI/AMD is in your every day of life?

Might as well go Console mate, O'wait!

BTW,a heads-up(!),some of the newer Airbus aircraft like the A380 are using AMD GPUs in the flight display systems - I don't think Boeing does??

Wait it does!!

Looks like road trips only for the time-being.

Right, his GPU runs GDDR5, he said he would never touch anything AMD, are you going to rip the Memory IC's off your GPU, Lamb Chop? can i watch? :D

The professional display market is more or less completely owned by AMD. NVIDIA's presence is practically non existent.
