i've got a nexus 5 but the gps is beyond rubbish, the battery is just as bad and it's now just a p.i.t.a and i'd like to upgrade.

i came from the n4, and would like to have the freedom to wait for the 2015 nexus 5, however after waiting for the n6 and being disappointed, i fear it may be the same situation and i'll end up getting a phone that's currently out so may as well have bought it sooner.

what's important to me:

decent battery life. QI charging. decent camera. NFC. Android Pay ready (i know this isn't out but i want to be able to use it to the max once it is, so would i need a finger print reader?).

I've currently got about 4 months of a 12 month sim only contract left, which i'd like to keep, but ee have told me they'd happily end it to go to a normal phone contract. i like the freedom a 12 month contact gives me with upgrades, but having lasted 2 years with the n5 i'm pretty confident unless a huge advance comes out i wont be upgrading for a couple years any way.

i'm leaning towards the s6. seems to fit everything i want minus the decent battery (ffs why has there always got to be one major issue with every phone). anyone able to confirm how accurate the finger print reader is as i hear the first version were pants but are quickly getting much better so don't want to use a phone with a sub decent fingerprint reader, esp if android pay requires one.

i've also seen some news on new motorola phones which seem great, however not sure if they're coming to the uk and when and i hear no finger print reader.

anything i should look at? Money isn't really a problem my mobile is important to me. i was hoping for the note 5 but that's not coming to the uk, and the oneplus 2 i was disappointed with the stupid lack of NFC.

How about the new iphone? Apple pay is up and running now.

I thought the iPhone when I read his list too, only thing it lacks is QI charging. Still the best all round phone currently imho. Announcement for 6S is in a week or so so probably worth waiting on iphone front too.

sory should have said. dead set about not going for an iphone. have no desire to even attempt to see if the apps i use go across. I dislike also too many things such as the lack of a homepage with widgets, i'd lose Nova and all the amazing things that does alone.

thanks for the suggestion though. I think i'll go look at a store tomorrow and see what i think of the s6 in person

Moto X Play is good... Great camera and battery life. SD cslot too. Cheap as well.

This is what I am seriously considering. I've been out of contract now for at least 6 months and I'm just waiting for this weeks news on releases, and if they aren't up to much, then I'll probably just go for an X Play. Had a look of one in town yesterday, and looks pretty decent.

I would have had an S6, being a Samsung Galaxy fan for many years now. However, they killed it with the S6 with dropping the microSD card slot, and non-changeable battery coupled with poor battery performance. They really have gone too "Apple" with the S6, and that was a step too far for me.

So instead, I thought I'd look at more mid-budget phones, and the X Play is currently winning, for many reasons, not least of which is because its available already.
