Has anyone ever done this? We're going this year, with the inlaws. We can't get into any of the venue's onlooking Times Square as we're with a 17 & 18yo, and they'll only allow over 21's.

As far as I can tell, we're stuck standing up in the middle of Times Square with no facilities which I'm not particularly looking forward to - so any suggestions from people who have done it before?

From time to time a thread appears on ocuk that offers fake IDs and passports...usually lasts about 10 mins...that would come in handy.

After just doing 8 nights in NYC also, I would agree NYE is going to be expensive! I dread to think how much those 8 nights cost.

Yeah, quite pricey but we're going over xmas (flying out xmas day) so not doing any massive xmas dinners or presents etc so that will go somewhat to pay for it all.

From everyone I have spoken to have said mostly the same things. Its extremely expensive, it extremely overcrowded with people, there is a high possibility of crime (Pickpocketing and fights being the most predominant due to the high capacity of people and the very limited personal space) and at times the police can be a little over zealous but they do try to stop things before they start.

But they do say that there is a great atmosphere...

Sounds like they're describing every major city on the planet there.

Good info here.

Dont buy an all entry pass. They dont exist and the police wont let you in with one.

Also reading that looks like you have to be in by 6pm or you wont get in, the best viewing spots go in the afternoon. If you leave your viewing spot you cant come back.

So in summary, cause you have minors with you, you are going to be standing in times square, there are no food and drink vendors, you cant go into any restaurants or bars and you will have to be there fro over 6 hours.

Sounds like this hasnt been thought through very well...........................

Yup, unfortunately it wasn't my idea and they all want to go so otherwise it's me on my own

Maybe I'm just getting old but the thought of being out in a crowd of ****ed people doesn't appeal to me any more. I much prefer renting a big house with a load of friends. It's a lot cheaper too.

Preaching to the choir here!

Found we can get a family friendly pass at Madame Tussauds, only $1200 each
