It's OK, it only got down to a roasty 7 degree's..... :(
I suffer from that as well, always had it bad in the hands and have had it throughout the "summer" although below 12 degree's is when it becomes really horrible.

Not a good combo, starting to feel it tonight sat in my lounge, bloody bain of my life :(

***** hell. Just heard that my friend that was touring around Europe has come off and broken his collarbone :/ He's recuperating in hospital right now after having a plate put in his neck. Apparently caused by speed wobble when descending a hill (which he's complained about before on his current bike).

That's **** man. Sorry to hear that.

I run super hot too. Probably because I'm a weighty **** as well. :p

I would run my summer gear in winter as I'm still sweaty as hell, but I get really cold temps here and my knees seize up, so need to cover my joints. :(

Cleaned my bikes, took my old bike for a 16 mile ride, it is now filthy again! Got to love country roads :D I wouldn't have been so surprised but the roads were mainly dry!

Talking of dirty rides... has anyone tried this stuff? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/muc-off-dry-degreaser-500ml/

A proper clean which requires hosing off etc. isn't practical for me after every ride but this stuff is just spray and wipe.

Get some cheap baby wipes. Now I've used them I won't go back. Can just give the chain a wipe down and the bike a quick once over with one or two and you're done!

Anyone recognise this fine fellow from one of our bits of cycle to work promo material?

Whoever he is, his legs are shorter than his torso

It's Arsey, occasional contributor to this here thread.

Do you need to re-lube it after that or just when you give it the full degrease?

I'll chuck some lube on every few weeks if it's been dry as I obviously won't need to wipe down the every ride. Wetter times every few rides. It's just about keeping the chain as clean as possibly to stop it all gunking up. Which will be exacerbated if you use too much lube!

Excellent, I thought as much as the baby wipes won't have any degreasing action as such. I'll get some and give it a punt.

Yeah, it really sucks for him. He's less than a week in to his two week trip. No idea what shape the bike is in either :/

I usually try to cover my knees if it's really cold too. I don't have any dodgy knee issues these days (thank you, squats and deads) but once or twice when it's extremely cold I've felt slightly odd twinges so I play it safe.

Tbh you don't want to be degreasing every ride anyway as you'll just be stripping out oils from right where you want them! A wipe down will cover 90% of what you need 90% of the time in my opinion.

I just get them not wanting to bed in the cold. It gets to like -15c here, but realistically I'll be out in about -8 to 10, but then windchill as well as my knees decide not to function as joints anymore haha

Ouch! Glad to hear he's semi-ok! Gutted he's having to cut a great tour like that short :(

I would be paranoid about it leaving a residue on things like my chainrings/cassette and more importantly the braking surfaces of my rims!

I started doing this a while ago but I found my chain showed signs of rust really quickly when using them, it may have been within some wet commuting but I found more than 1 day without riding my chain would show some signs. I think mine were 'Johnston Baby Wipes' or similar so not cheap ones... I find paper towels best for wiping my chain down, during a 'proper' clean I'll wipe it down with a J cloth soaked in watered down citris degreaser the same time I wash the rest of my frame/groupset with a sponge. I don't 'soak' chains when cleaning them, some people bath theirs but the amount of good lube removed from the internals of the links is hard to replace. To be honest the time it takes to get a chain really 'spotless' is better spent on chainrings/cassette as the chain will be dirty after 1 ride and then replaced every ~6 months. I'd rather spend the time on more expensive components that are going to be with me for longer!

Another cool commute in this morning, DHB Windslam Blade perfect again. Even wore it on my commute home last night as the winds were very cool! I seem to have gone from short sleeves to fleece/roubaix jerseys without any long sleeve jersey use! Out for a blast tonight with a friend so dug out my long sleeve windslam jersey as know I'll cook in the Blade! I'm sticking to riding my 'hill' route to work as I'm getting faster/better at riding this segment which must be building up some base climbing stamina. Didn't push it this morning and only 6s off my 2 mins 3s PR. Headwinds too! I know it's not a big hill, but some elevation (161 ft) is better than 'none' (85 ft)! ;)

Looking back at my Strava 'Training Log' and several of my commuting rides are not showing, going to have to investigate if I'm missing miles...

Anyone else get annoyed that you can't flag rides as 'commute' within the Strava app? Only the website... Mine are a complete mess with only around 30% tagged as commute. *sigh*

how can you not see me!! :(

He looked like he gave you room afterwards, bit late though! I had a woman do similar to me this morning... Waits for the car in front of me then proceeds to do a U-turn straight in front of me.

The windslam blade is a great jersey, especially for £35!

Agreed, shame they're only in Black and EOL though! I did try the normal DHB momentum roubaix to start with but the fit was very loose (more jacket like). DHB do other roubaix style but not really in the same price/quality league as the Windslam Blade. Let's hope their 2016 range comes along soon and we see it back!

Can someone who's bored plot me a route that might be fun to do on a commute. Driving is 15 miles each way ish, along the A61 and then Otley Road from Killinghall. These are roads I wish to avoid completely because they're horrible.

Ripon (anywhere will do) from HG3 1RY. (or vice versa)
I'm thinking out towards Fewston, then past Menwith Hill on whatever that road is, after crossing the A59, round the back of Brimham Rocks (but I can't remember if having to go through Summerbridge to get there - only driven it once and seem to recall a stupidly steep hill on a narrow road - not so enamoured with that)... onto the Pateley road, possibly through Grantley/Past Grantley Hall or maybe not bother with that and after Brimham Rocks go the back way and towards Aldfield but through Fountains Abbey/Studley Deer Park.

I just can't make route planners work, because I'm a ****.
