Hi guys

My PC is upstairs and has a 290x and so can play games at 1080p with ease. I have a 1440p monitor and some games are just better on a big screen with a controller. Is there any way I can stream games from my PC to my TV?

I want to use a 360 controller as well, my wireless adapter is in my pc but what device do i have to buy to use as an intermediate? Is it possible, any work arounds?

Also PC is connected via power plug 200mbps so is streaming bandwith an issue?

I think the link is going to be about £40, so it'll probably be the cheaper option if you don't already have an old laptop or something laying around.

Your laptop doesn't need to be 1080p to play 1080p games through steam, I use an average i5 6gb ram HP pavillion G6 for steam streaming and for elgato PC capture and it works perfectly. If you have a HDMI out on your laptop just set the TV as the primary display and audio output and set the resolution to the TV's maximum which would be 1080p.

Make sure that you are using Ethernet were possible as wireless just isn't reliable enough.. and make sure no one is hogging your bandwidth.

Ideally using a wireless xbox controller pc peripheral is great but if you dont have one wired will work fine. I'd advise investing in an xbox 360 PC wireless controller if you dont already have one, or just wait till the xbone one comes out.

1 x Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller - PC / Xbox 360 (JR9-00010) £32.95

I already have a wireless controller and adapter setup.
I see thanks I'll let you know. Would it work for non steam games?

Yes it works for non-steam games, but you need to add them into Steam.

You can do it for Origin games (there is a guide somewhere).
You can apparently do it with Blizzard games, and GOG games work perfectly as well.
