The EU Migrant Crisis

I love the way I get called a troll when you run out of counter arguments (it didn't take you long) and you fail to grasp even the most elementary critical analysis pathways required for a good debate.

I've got three young children - patience doesn't even begin to cover it!

You got called a troll because you are one.

It's fine I don't need to know any of the most basic elementary critical analysis pathways required for a good debate because I'm not here to debate anything. The reason for that? Well what's the point in debating something I have no control over.

This thread and everyone before it is just like a group of men sitting around a pub table talking and then doing the same thing the next night.

If you're not here to debate, then surely that makes you the troll?

I can't control the sun, but I enjoy a good debate over it's origins.

Sup up, it's closing time!

Borders aren't closed to them, they aren't satisfied with the countries they have got into!

What winds me up is how we are seen as some sort of utopia and a 'soft touch'. I've seen first hand how our education and health systems are saturated and are operating on a shoestring. We just cannot take in all the masses that want to come here.

One question.

How do we deal with such an influx of people?

That's a complicated question that can't be answered on a forum.

I am am however compiling a report with some colleagues from the TUC that makes some quite far reaching and progressive suggestions - it will be going out for peer review on Monday and should be ready in around a week - I'll link here on the forums when published.

Nope, you got called it because you've replied suggesting you are actually trolling and you are acting like you are. Talking of which your critical analysis is lacking a bit, You've singularly failed to make a point in regard to your contradictory previous posts. (before you ask for evidence, I've already posted with it)

I look forward to it. Curious as to why the TUC feels the need to be involved though, surely its for the SPRU units to look at?

There was one troll comment there and yes, I agree, it was poor form.

I'm selecting points worth debating - that's why I haven't replied to your specific point.

It's not a TUC report (we're just a handful of TUC colleagues doing the report off our own backs), but regardless - the TUC is very active in a wide range of research topics, often in co-operation with universities.

Assuming politicians were competent. I don't think they know either.

I think they are too preocupied with the question "what does the voting public think is the right solution" to actually identify the right solution.

what has racism got todo with the already struggling poverty and housing situation in the uk? its absolutely disgusting what is happening but what exactly do you suggest, Germany is a big place.

That's the 'go to' argument of all else fails. Racist!!!

I see in NZ they're talking about upping the intake of refugees from 750 a year. Listening to the radio and have all these clueless young morons ringing in with stars in their eyes, nearly crying from all the non stop emotional stimulation swirling around the media offering rooms in their parents' houses and paying for plane tickets to get them here. The moment someone rings in to offer a counter argument, RACIST!!!!!RACIST!!!! RACIST!!!!

This whole thing is laughable. The photo with the dead kid is ridiculous. Obviously sad, but the whole thing is ridiculous and everyone seems to be falling for it.

I guarantee you these same dummies that's pining for them to come to first world countries will be ****ging off immigration in years to come.

The media sets it up and monkeys react.

Going off topic now but same with the whole Corbyn thing. Reading Guardian comments, he's the second coming of Jesus. There's no doubt that after years of lame ducks, he's the man. The media gets hysterical and everyone else follows along.

amiga, you said, "Not in private houses and not in council houses." You then said, "Not as homeless people."

So... you planning to put them in house boats? Airports? Factories? In football stadiums?

Surely with your unbounded compassion (and funds) you won't be putting them in tents in refugee camps. Which is a good thing because which 13 cities are going to agree to house a refugee camp with 7,500 migrants for an indefinite amount of time? Isn't that a recipe for disaster, like in Calais?

Saying you aren't going to house them but they won't be homeless is just baffling. I'm sure you had a plan in mind, so what was it?

As I said earlier it isn't about racism or anything else it's about being able to sustain/support everything. Not to mention the simplest of things called physical space...

So Germany are going to take 800,000, we'll probably end up taking a few million but what about France, who is also calling on these 'binding quotas'....to reduce the current 40% (with Germany) being suggested. By my reckoning they should be taking a fairly large chunk of these refugees, if need be the EU can use some of the billions we've supplied it with to support the refugees.

Here's my reasoning, France is literally one of the biggest countries in regards to space in all of the EU, not to mention one of the smallest people per square kilometre (based on 2013 metrics which are likely lower than they are now).

UK - 263
Germany - 225
France - 103

Based on that alone, France can afford to take in a lot more than we can, yet here they are trying to get their quota reduced.

So Dave makes a clear statement the other day about not taking in migrants

Then this photo is plastered everywhere

Then Dave makes a 180 his position the same day

Why are we living in satire?

I think they are too preocupied with the question "what does the voting public think is the right solution" to actually identify the right solution.

Your a union head and you acting like we in your union so go away.

I despise people like you. Common purpose course went well did it?

You cannot answer a basic question just like a politician, typical unionist.

Note

Too much yellow in the original reply and a large ban hammer over my head. :p

And what nobody wants to realise/accept is that they were already safe before the fatal journey.

It is of course tragic, but why does nobody put the spotlight on the parents?

Wasn't doing what they did extremely reckless? Putting small children on an unsafe boat when there is no immediate danger forcing their hand?

I almost find it funny, thousands of people have drowned, including many children and infants, but this one bloody child in no danger gets media attention?

Failure.

Better hope the Germans don't start hankering for Lebensraum with all the people they are taking in.

I don't see France having to take more in as a solution, they have enough problems with immigration as it is.
