The Asus ROG Swift PG348Q comes with 8bit+Hi-FRC in-plane switching (IPS) panel with 3440*1440 resolution,
172°/178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles and 100Hz refresh rate.

The monitor will be the first ultra-wide 34” curved display in the market that combines very high resolution,

100Hz panel as well as Nvidia G-Sync technology, which matches monitor’s refresh rate with a GPU’s rendering rate
on a frame-by-frame basis to provide smooth gaming experience.

Price around £1000

Ha, well given the PG279Q is nowhere in sight and was announced nearly a year ago, we'll be lucky to see this by summer 2016!

Also, I can't see how they can claim it will be the "first ultra-wide 34” curved display in the market that combines very high resolution, 100Hz panel as well as Nvidia G-Sync technology" when the Acer X34 is coming in October/November.

I think this was actually announced some time ago, before Acers so at the time it was 'the first'. It's actually kind of old news in that respect, been a few threads about it.

Nonetheless, this is pretty much my ideal gaming monitor. Wouldn't touch Acer with a barge pole, and as a happy rog swift owner I'd dip into Asus again.

Edit - pg279q details too, and it's now 165hz!!! http://techreport.com/news/28972/asus-previews-rog-swift-pg348q-and-pg279q-g-sync-monitors

However, no mention anywhere of the 4k 27 inch IPS rog swift with gsync that was announced months ago????

Not going to be around any time soon. No doubt that it'll be great though, like the Acer.

I like the silver front bezel but the rest of the design is too much. If Acer can get their QC right (as someone who has pre-ordered, I still know theres going to be some messing around) it's going to boil down to price and which is first to market. Same monitor after all.

Yes, there was no such thing as the 3800R. That was (is) the curvature of this monitor that was originally referred to as simply the PG34. ;)

Just need a release date and hopefully will drive the Acer down etc.

I just want 'this' for less than £950 =D

I can overlook the overdesign.

Edit: also the bevel wont be that thin, monitor picture keep photoshopping pics to the edge, that's just misleading.

Judging by both ROG Swift and the IPS 1440 from announcement to release, we could be waiting a while... I don't know what takes Asus so long with monitors, its like they are made of unobtainium

Maybe they are testing properly and ensuring build quality and general quality control is implemented.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Etc

Sorry. My Asus rog swift has actually been great, but I made myself laugh thinking any monitor manufacturer has any sort of proper QC process these days.

All these recent events with the IPS glow issues across Asus, Acer, LG, it has really become off-putting with the IPS displays in general.

Seriously, wish Samsung could bring out some VA Ultrawide display with high refresh rate...but I doubt that's gonna happen :(

Except that they have such a panel in production, with 2000R curvature and 100Hz refresh rate. No further details at this stage, but it seems something is on the horizon.

Woah there! Wasn't aware of this.

Just to confirm that's a Samsing VA panel, curved, 100Hz ?

I'm assuming that will be 34 inch at 3440x1440p?

No word on Gsync or Freesync yet? If it's Gsync then this would be my next gaming monitor rather than the Asus, mainly due to the VA panel. Samsung seem to have a thing for Freesync though, so I'd predict that, and yet again the perfect monitor still eludes me :(....

The monitor uses a gently curved 34” AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) panel from LG Display, the LM340WU2-SSA1.

This is a 60Hz panel with a very light and smooth matte screen surface, but it is overclocked up to 100Hz on this model.

Well FreeSync or GSYNC won't have anything to do with the panel itself, and that's all that's in production currently. But the panel I was referring to is 3440 x 1440, 34", steeply curved and 100Hz.
