Are flamethrowers cool?

Lol, ok... uhh anyone with some knowledge of engineering and chemistry could easily whip up their own, so i dont see the point.

Still getting it working right and not getting hurt in the process takes some actual mechanical knowhow and those people tend not to be rampant nutters.

Like using a can of hair spray, enginneering indeed lol

Except you need a canister of liquid fuel, a canister of compressed gas to feed into the fuel canister to drive it out (probably a bladder would be best but less efficency for the volume) you gotta get everything sealed properly etc (you don't want to be covered in a nice fine fuel mist from a leak when you light it up)

Get the presures right, it's not a massively difficult task but it is an expensive and impracticle one to make something small and compact and reliable.

A big risk is making it shut off quickly if it's too slow you'll end up dribbling burning napalm at your feet when you let go of your trigger/close your valve

Also you e got to make sure it's coming out at sufficent preasure that it's igniting and few feet from the end of the barrel otherwise that will get very hot and start to vaporise the fuel in the line and stop it working as it air locks and tries to push back on the tanks.

A weaponised plasma cutter.

This is a terrible idea, Americans are already quite good at mass killings, they do not need even more dangerous weapons.

Much as I'd like to have a go on one I really don't think they should be available to the public.
Decent ones are WW2 style like the M2. They weigh a TON (believe me), only last about 11 seconds and still only shoot out to maybe 40 yards. Up close, they are devastating. Outside of those few seconds, they are a stack of crap.

how long do you think it would taker to set fire to a classroom full of children after walking hough the door?

or a packed cinema?

this thing you could fit in a normal duffel bag, walk into a place light it up in a quiet corner or toilet then walking in and torch a room.

plus the fact that a standard fire extinguisher isn't going to put out this stuff easily means the fire is likely to spread to the whole building.

You wouldn't have thought that a weapon disavowed by the military would find itself into general sale to consumers, would you.

i have the feeling no state ever thought it would actually have to make a law about them lol.

but on point to your message hollow point rounds, banned by the military, used by every police officer and recommended for civilians in their weapons for defence.

You mean like shotguns?

the military use shotguns?

shotguns used by the us marines

Shotguns

Remington 870 - as the M870 and Modular Combat Shotgun.
M1014 - semi automatic 12-gauge shotgun.
Mossberg 590A1 12-gauge pump

I think hp is a bit different though, given that one of the primary benefits in civilian life is preventing the injury of bystanders.

It's not as if civilian flamethrowers are a safer alternative to something else.

Indeed I was wrong, I'm sure I'd read somewhere that shotgun use against personnel was banned after a quick Google I wasn't the only one.
