Alex Salmond: A second Scottish referendum is inevitible

I wonder if the SNP would still allow Shetland and Orkney to opt out of any successful vote for independence, along with their mineral rights.

Again, another one of those silly little unionist fantasies. Taken from here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_Scottish_independence_referendum,_2014

Early in 2013, an opinion poll commissioned by the Press and Journal found 8% of people in Shetland and Orkney supported the islands themselves becoming fully independent countries, with 82% against.

Again, utter tosh. Out of 69 polls conducted in 2014, only 4 showed the YES campaign with more than 45% of the vote. 3 out of those 4 polls were within the standard 3% margin of error and the fourth poll was 1% outside of that margin of error.

65 out of those 69 polls showed the YES campaign at 45% or less. So what you are trying to argue is actually the complete opposite to reality.

Look at the diffference between Yes and No in the polls, typically around 5%, when in reality it was 10%. The polls were overestimating the proportion of Yes support and they're doing it much more now that only the Yes camp still care enough to complete surveys. Funny that you choose not to include undecideds only when it helps your case. Funny, but predictable.

Again reading comprehension is failing you!

The polls were quite accurate for YES as I previously have shown. They most definitely were not overestimating YES support. That is a fabrication of your mind.

What actually happened is that a majority of undecided voters went with NO over YES. That is why there was a 5% surge to NO from the roughly 50% they were polling throughout most of 2014.

Take a look at the opinion poll charts that you yourself posted and stop making stuff up that is easy to disprove.

So why are you now removing undecided voters and not assigning them all to No? Pick a tactic and stick with it bro.

None of this changes the fact that the polls are swinging towards Yes because No don't care anymore. Sore losers struggling to let it go will happily tell anyone who will listen how unfair it was, you're a prime example of that. I feel sorry for the pollsters.

They didn't all go to NO, but enough did to keep YES at 45% but boost NO to 55%

It's a fact is it? Where is your evidence that NO voters don't care anymore? This is a fabrication of your mind.

Where am I saying anything is unfair? Again another fabrication.

You're unreasoned arguments are

The polls are my evidence. You really think over 10% of the population has changed their mind in under a year? I'm sorry you lost but you need to let it go.

The polls show the complete opposite of what you are trying to say. But keep going! You are giving us a great laugh over on the other forum!

You are off your rocker son. The clue is in the name "undecided"!

I'm sorry you lost but you need to let it go.

We lost last year and I accept that. But if you think that means I will give up the fight for independence you are mistaken. The same goes for a huge number of grassroots independence supporters who number over 100,000. A growing number of the public are also unsatisfied with our place in the "union". Hence the uptick in Yes support in the polls over the last year.

We lost the first battle but we only have to win once. You have to win every time!

No one cares. Stop banging the drum until you get chance to start banging it again.

Why do you people want to keep the Scots in the union if they don't want to be? I know the vote result etc blah blah but the general election result speaks volumes. Is it so we keep the oil? Extra voice on world stage etc? I don't get it, it makes you look all pretty stupid and if I we're Scottish I would be a lot more rowdy than Lovelyhead is. I think it is people like yourselves that will ultimately see them leave, speaking like we own them or something. The English attitude in the run up to the referendum was embarrassing and it made many a Scot think twice.

My god. A voice of reason in the middle of a sea of idiots!

Personally I'm quite content to let the politicians do all the bickering, I've no idea why people such as the above get so passionate and aggressive about this.

I think it's called having a chip on your shoulder ;)

In all seriousness though, its the politicians just bickering that's the problem. You can't trust any of them.

How free would an 'independent Scotland' really be in an EU dominated by France and Germany? In the UK context Scottish MP's have a sizeable presence at Westminster.

What sort of precence would they have in the EU?

I am more comfortable having some of our laws made from Brussels and the rest made in Scotland versus having some of our laws made from Brussels, most of our laws made in England and a small proportion made in Edinburgh.
