The EU Migrant Crisis

Great another person deliberately framing the issue in an inaccurate way and despite not being in work currently due to ill health I don't look down my nose at British working class people at all, I am one and the vast majority of my friends are. Who I and people like me look down our noses is mindless and heartless bigots with not an ounce of real compassion.
I showed an ounce of compassion when I sent you £30 a few weeks ago
suddenly I'm a heartless bigot without any because I'm against encouraging more economic migrants putting their lives and their children's lives in danger and then blaming the EU

Charity begins at home, when there's no more people like you in need I'll consider looking further a field

feel free to ignore this post and continue posting in the thread vidar.

I don't want a reply just saying we aren't all heartless biggots

37, really? I'm 35.

It's just that by our age idealism tends to have been tempered by our experience of how the world really works.

You seem to have remained entirely idealistic.

Don't remove saddam get blamed.
Remove saddam get blamed.
remove gaddafi get blamed.
oppose assad get blamed.
help assads enemies get blamed.

let's all play the blame game because it's always someone elses problem and never a problem with the quran or tribal culture

Nah, we really ****** up with Libya and Syria. We had no business at all going in there giving support to groups looking to overthrow a legitimate government.

For that we are rightly getting some stick. Also people have dug up a lot of dirt on ulterior motives we may have had for these actions. Like 4 billion worth of arms deals with the Russians suddenly being cancelled and handed instead to western contractors... Dodgy as anything.

I have too much will power to let my idealism vanish.

Also, I've never confused a defeatist stance with realist stance.

Why are you ignoring what actually happened? Syrians weren't a religious people.

Do you remember how we hosted the fsa and the media portrayed them as the saviours of the middle east. They asked for money and armed support, they got it too.

LMAO.

The Germans and Austrians welcoming the refugees restores some faith in humanity

The governments, not the people, mind you.

Lots of resentment in both countries against it, and statistics seem to favour the majority want much less migrants, not more. Everyone I've spoken to who lives in continental Europe (Sweden, Germany, Poland, and many more) seem entirely fed up with it all as well, the first positive things I've heard are from a few people in this forum, and the usual lot on Facebook.

Whatever you hope for, it's not realistic to have a "Star Trek" like society any time soon.

There is too much vested interest in the status quo for what you want to happen in our lifetime, or the foreseeable future. You'll find that the people running most of the world's governments are not idealists ;)

And you like the status quo? Certainly seems that way.

First of all Arknor I'm not necessarily refering to anyone as a heartless bigot just stating that that's who I look down my nose at.

Your kindness towards me meant a hell of a lot and your opinions on immigration etc don't cheapen that for me in the slightest, you have my respect sir however agree with some of the things you're saying about immigration I do not!

Baring in mind that if you search my posts far back enough you and anyone else will see that I was well and truly encroached in the far right camp when it came to immigration, etc I proudly counted myself as a Nationalist and even voted for the BNP at the European elections, so what changed?

Quite simply put I got an education... the so called Nationalist party floundered, then my relationship over and on the bones of my backside sofa surfing, almost ending up on the streets, living in a hostel and having to make use of food banks etc taught me quite literally what it is like to be at the very bottom of the pile but oddly that it's the people with the least that often are the most humane. That's not a dig at anyone but simply to put that my eyes where well and truly opened.

Yeah I'm still struggling for one reason or another but I'm lucky to have people who care enough to help me out, whether that be people like you mate or real world friends and family. Many of these people don't have that at all and that is truly truly bleak!

And you like the status quo? Certainly seems that way.

Well I like certain parts of the status quo, sure. Where I live isn't bad, and this country as a whole isn't awful. It could be worse!

I like to see progress as much as the next person, but amiga's ideas are too radical. He wan't a technocratic society "like in Star Trek" and obviously think's that's achievable. Which it may be in the distant future. Let's not forget ST is set in the 24th century!

For now we should focus on more practical and realistic ways to help the Syrians, which do not involve placing such a burden on our resources that we start to hurt our own people.

Too much to ask?

You can either enjoy the system at play or be an outcast that 95% of the population ignores anyway... guess which one people choose.

Life rewards the brutal and punishes the meek.

You can be brutal in your every day life in order to look after yourself and family.

But your beliefs and ideals can still remain utopian or what ever society you prefer.

Doing what you must for survival is human nature, and most adhere to the system but that does not mean they must believe in this same system.

We can believe and hope for what we want.
