Did someone mention ISIS? This guy's changed his mind though, r-r-right?

He didn't fight of ISIS, he fought for the FSA - you know, the group the UK government encouraged and gave weapons to. So really, he's like a Ghurka.

Not even convinced that's the same guy tbh. But ISIS have said they've sent people with the migrants so that's a technicality.

I mention ISIS because someone proposed a solution to the problem by cutting defense budgets - but that solution doesn't solve the problem because ISIS still cause people to leave Syria.

Yes it's hard to tell from that pic, here's one in higher resolution.

I did understand what you were getting at. :)

And in retrospect, still a bad idea. Assad is the only one who could shut down these groups, so long as he had the resources. FSA, like any other militant group, is a gamble.

Seems like his fighting spirit didn't last long though!

What most people don't seem to understand is that we don't have unlimited room to home these refugees.

Germany for instance is a huge country and does have room.

Indeed, we're struggling to build houses already - we cannot support thousands of people coming in, we just can't.

A poorly equipped militia facing a brutal movement well known for committing barbaric acts. Can't say I'd be sticking around to fight that either.

I remember at the election David Cameron saying the UK must cut benefits and get people back out to work , now he wants to let other 15,000 to 20,000 + migrants into the UK , that's another 15,000 to 20,000 + people on benefits etc and trying to find places to live and putting pressure on local councils , schools , hospitals etc , give it another 10 years and the English speaking person will be the minority in England , i cannot believe residents Opening their Homes to migrants , you must be ***cking nuts

Most dictatorships in that area commit barbaric acts. Remember Saddam? He sure quelled any ISIS-like uprisings effectively though, bringing much needed stability until the US came and ****ed it.

These milita are split into different sects that fight each other based on differences in ideologies of religion - they are not equipped to run a country after they have taken it, at all.

It doesn't matter how well you put points across, or the amount of research you put into backing those points up, everything comes undone as soon as:

give it another 10 years and the English speaking person will be the minority in England

It's a ridiculous statement and I can't speak for anyone else, but when I hear it I just put you in the same group as the BNP/EDL/white power lot and any genuine point you may have tried to make is lost. If we were in a pub I'd expect the next sentence to be something about Jews.

Two problems with that map:

Most do stop as soon as they reach the first country they come to. Turkey has taken in 1.8 million refugees and is obviously reaching bursting point.

Secondly, as already pointed out in this thread, the map is inaccurate. Try telling the people of eastern Ukraine that there's no war where they live.

What about this map, whats wrong with this one.

Indeed; still 0 people in this thread have offered to house one in their home rather than let Joe Taxpayer fund it, iirc.

If I'm being totally honest too, if it was me I'd not see it as unfair putting my people at risk inviting a bunch of highly religious unstable men into my country. This war wasn't started by average joe bloggs on the street, it's not his fault Syria is a dump... but he is going to be the one paying the price possibly.

ISIS are bragging how they've sent in a bunch of fighters, most likely true statistically a portion will be extremists. How many more will also turn this way down the line? it's caused nothing but problems so far.

I don't want to see another Charlie Hebdo.... because apparently the west is such a ****hole according to them but they all want to flood in here....
