house boat sinks... gofundme page set up for owner... what happened to insurance? (daily mail link)

Student of quackery.

She must have removed some of the more controversial posts from her Facebook page.

She's anti-vaccine & anti-fluoride.

Not as remote as you think - My brother lives on a narrow boat and owners of boat next to his were away when they had torrential rain - He had to go on board to pump it out as it started to list due to intake of water - it was a working boat so most of it was only covered by tarp.

Being a student perhaps she want's it back in good condition so she can house some Syrian's - seems to be a thing students want to do these days . :)

What's the is use. People who want to help, help.
Those that don't wont.
Who are you to dictate how and who people should help.

She's studying homeopathy, shows how brain dead she is though.

I only care enough (very little) about daily mail stories enough to post this.
Why would you live on a houseboat if you don't know how to live on a house boat and properly maintain it? She's quite a moron by the sounds of things.

I hope she finds somewhere to live and she learns from this experience. Apart from that, move a long, nothing to see here.

I can't help but notice that there has been no mention of insurance in the article... did she have any? Or can they not answer that just in case she did it paid out and she's just been scamming people for moneys!

So don't live in one if you can't afford it?

It's not simply a matter of "can't afford it"; it's frequently functionally unavailable. Not to mention that it probably wouldn't have paid out in this case since it would be considered 'user error'.

In any case, a lot of people who live on these kinds of narrow boats do so because they can't afford to live in conventional housing. Very much a catch-22.

My 1st thoughts on the matter were:

PIRATES!!!!!

Presumably by getting a job instead rather than studying yet another pointless 'modern' course she would be to pay for it herself..

What a snidey thing to do, expect people to fork out for her. **** away off with you and your begging bowl. Chancing sob. These thigns really are getting on my nerves. Begging for everything.

I think that is the case for some of the continuous cruiser types... who won't need to pay mooring fees etc.. which I'm guessing she is

for others though it can cost a grand a month for a mooring and sometimes the only way to get a good one is to buy a boat already moored there at an inflated price... so you can end up shelling out a six figure sum for a canal boat that happens to be parked up in regents park and then a grand a month for the privilege of keeping it there
