These new boards have been all over the internet recently and I've started to get very interested but I see a lot of different ones. They have different names (PhunkeeDuck, Smart Glider etc.) that vary in price dramatically.

Does anyone know the best one to go with and why they vary in price so much?

Thanks in advance. :)

You can buy them off eBay/Amazon from the OEM manufacturer for about £300, all the other ones are just fancy brand names with a logo slapped on it for £1,000+.

Please don't every person I've seen on one here in Oxford has looked like aright pillock. That ranges from people in suits to "hoodies" types.

Well that's my opinion anyway

Why does anything vary in price dramatically... there are obviously different levels of quality especially in terms of battery and range, with some being cheapie china and some being better. Your best bet is simply to Google reviews on them.

Is there any different ones that go faster or are stated to last longer? Or are they literally all the same and companies are just pricing them differently?

That sounds a bit weird tbh how companies can overprice these so much.

It's not unusual though, remember those folding Alu scooters from the 90's the official big branded ones were megabucks for pretty much the same thing you could buy from any market stall for £20.

I saw someone on one the other day. They seem a bit slow and pointless to me. Just get a skateboard.

I've seen all these videos and they seem pretty cool. I've read some can go above 10mph and last for a few hours. Seems like a pretty cool method of transport instead of walking.

Also, skateboarding has never been my thing.

OMG that brought back some nostalgia. I completely forgot about them.

I saw a young teen on one and it seemed pretty nimble and precisely controlled as he leaned about, could be handy for a public transport commute.

That's what I was thinking. I might take it to work as well to travel around on. Show off my skills! ;)

I'd rather walk. Healthier, less expensive, and less chance of maiming myself.

Yeah I suppose but the most damage you're going to do to yourself is a bruise or a scratch and that's just when you're getting used to it. After a day or two I'm hoping I won't have an issue with stability.

Really? They are EVERYWHERE!

I haven't seen one for at least 5 years. All of the kids nowadays are buying the custom parts and putting the scooter together manually, just like you can with a bike.
