Asus unveils 34" curved ultra-wide 100Hz IPS LCD with Gsync

Well FreeSync or GSYNC won't have anything to do with the panel itself, and that's all that's in production currently. But the panel I was referring to is 3440 x 1440, 34", steeply curved and 100Hz.

Sounding very much like my next purchase :p

Except that they have such a panel in production, with 2000R curvature and 100Hz refresh rate. No further details at this stage, but it seems something is on the horizon.
Wasn't aware of that!

Guess I'll hold onto my money for longer, as at the moment no matter what IPS monitor I am interested it, it will always be an expensive gamble due to IPS glow...as if the risk of dead pixels wasn't already bad enough.

It's really really embarrassing that manufacturers allow their monitors to leave their factory with such poor quality control...

Edit: also the bevel wont be that thin, monitor picture keep photoshopping pics to the edge, that's just misleading.

Yup I agree.. I bought a Asus MX279H And on the pics that are about especially, on their website, looks like there is no bezel and the pic comes right to the edge but what you don't see is the 5-7mm blank space round the frame/screen.

Still a good monitor tho..

It would be really nice if Asus could release *some* hard details on this thing... like a release date and a price.

If the swift was £650 when it came out and this is 35% bigger and IPS and the first (announced... god knows who will actually suppy first) gaming speed g-sync ultrawide... it's got to end up over £1000 which is a lot of money for a monitor these days... so the quality control had better be epic.

Is there really much chance of seeing this before summer next year? Asus do seem to take forever releasing stuff. The Samsung VA 34" 100Hz panel sounds interesting, but only if it has G-Sync/Freesync... and we know nothing more about that yet, so that's probably even a longer wait than the Asus. By the time either of these monitors come out, we may even be starting to hear rumblings of DP 1.3 models on the horizon, which will certainly make many people think twice about buying.

Again, it's just a panel and not a monitor being discussed on the Samsung front. So yes, that will be a while yet. The ASUS will hopefully be released sooner rather than later, but my guess would be as good as anybody else's on that matter. We all know what to expect from them even if a release date were announced - they're always tentative with these sorts of monitors.

I don't like the grey look at all ... and it wont fit with all of the not grey stuff I currently have (and I don't fancy buying new Keyboard, mouse, case, mouse mat, etc to match the monitor if I already don't like the monitor).

Have tried asking on the Asus ROG forum if this is the only colour scheme or just an optional colour, but so far all I have gotten is the response of someone who doesn't use English as a first language (I hope!) which doesn't make a lot of sense, but I think it was explaining how it looks good and can be colour coordinated with other metallic grey things.

I really hope that RoG haven't decided to only go grey... their motherboard and graphics cards are one thing, but the monitors are in front of you all the time, it would be nice to have the option of decided what colour scheme (especially when the Predator now has that MASSIVE childish looking logo on the front)

From experience, I usually find monitors with certain standout aesthetic features (quite obvious in this case) look far more 'plain' and easier to blend in with other things when sitting on your desk than they do in press shots.

Definitely one to look out for. Will be interesting to see the reviews and the price.

Would the curve minimise IPS glow? It's fairly angle dependent.

It has a slight effect (refer to my review of the U3415W) but the considerable width is still a prevalent factor.

Waaaaaanttttt! But how can they claim it's the only 100Hz g-sync 3440x1440 IPS monitor when there is also the Acer Predator XR341CKA 34" G-SYNC WideScreen Super-Wide ZeroFrame Curved LED?

Is it just bandwidth or are they unable to make 4k panels with that refresh rate too? (I know nothing of monitor construction btw).
