I've been a bottled gas dealer for 25 years. Those 'super-ser' calor portable heaters will have your place running with condensation and black mould on your walls and clothing. Also a bottle lasts max 8 days running around 10hrs daily.
I'm sure the Cons have recently scrapped the free insulation deal.

It isn't winter, it is barely autumn!

(As a side note, GD I am much disappoint! 49 posts in and not a single mention of Jon Snow!)
 
In all seriousness, my new place is proper old-school, big, single pane windows.

My room is already freezing. Have some of that behind the radiator reflective stuff, but wondered if the insulting window film actually does anything? Or would just basic insulating tape to go around the gaps in the window pane be as good?
 
In one of my places of residence I used the foam tape stuff you get a Aldi/Lidls...
Taped round window to at least make a seal (rather than air flowing into the room)

The film traps air between the film and the glass, it's like a poor mans triple glazing.

This reminds me I must sort out our front door. It has a small gap near the bottom.

Well, I'm certainly not going to foot the bill to get the window properly glazed in rented accommodation, so I'll give this a go :D
