Private equity to buy 20 per cent of AMD

Hate more hate more. This isn't even confirmed as 100% factual. Just a rumour as of now and talking crap about AMD. Feels like just a hate thread atm.

This could be great news for AMD if it gets the cash injection it needs. I'm sure AMD aren't just going to let any old company come along and invest. With a good portfolio like Silver Lake has i'm sure they are worth while investors. Nether the less just all speculation for now.

The thing is though...that doesn't help enough to turn into sales for AMD.

Like lots of great headphone brands and companies, with all their superior products and offering better components at lower price, they don't turnover nearly as much as Beats, so don't underestimate the impact of personal preceived sense of "superiority" or "coolness" when it comes to purchase.

Superior Luxury Brand = AMD
Beats = Nvidia

I'm sure people have been suspended for less trolling than that. :D

Grow up, it is getting terrible in this sub-section. Where is all this hate.

Most threads are speculation on here, like a lot of the DX12 ones you jump in when the cause suits you.

I don't see any hate and everyone see's this as a good thing? Where are the hate posts?

I wouldn't consider them 'hate' posts but i would call them childish snipey remarks and there are a few already on this thread. (My favourite meat is Lamb BTW ;) )

It was a really good OP and I hope like Greg and a few others that it becomes the shot in the arm that AMD needs to get it's boat back afloat and competing head to head with Nvidia again.

Implying that "AMD has never really competed with Nvidia over the years" is just trolling, as in all fairness until Maxwell 2.0 came around AMD cards not only competed but were a much better bang for your buck over the vast range of cards.

Well lets wait and see what transpires shall we.

So you conveniently missed the '20% is 2 fury x's, dx12 only 1 game', the gif, nvidia is the equivalent of beats etc.

If you single out my posts again, I'll report you for it.

I could hardly say my favourite meat is Dave2150 now could I (That connotation could have been much worse) . You do post snipey remarks quite frequently (There's evidence in most threads) and you obviously cant take a joke (Or did you miss the Wink Emoticon)

Too many people need to grow up on here. Lighten up and chill out.

If you really feel it was THAT bad, then report me. It's ONLY a forum thread FFS.

Lamb, What are you going to report him for? saying your statement was false? Hilarious.

edit: please don't report me for laughing.:p

Is AMD really seriously think of sell off 20% of company to Silver Lake?

AMD currently owned and controlled 57.59% of company while shareholders owned 42.41% of company. If AMD sold 20% to Silver Lake then AMD will own and control 37.59% of company, the AMD board of directors will not have votes in decision making alone.

If it will turn out to be true then alarms will be ringing at Intel HQ when they found confirmation that AMD controlled less than 51% of company when they sold 20% stake to Silver Lake then Intel will automatically terminated x86 license.

AMD can kiss goodbye to CPUs, APUs and upcoming Zen cancelled.

You really think someone would invest into AMD if the X86 licenses could be revoked? Investment groups don't just put down millions of dollars without checking out every legal clause you know.

But the armchair tech lawyers have decreed it, you can't fight back with logic!

Even if Zen or Greenland are looking good, I wonder if there is actually enough money in desktop for investors to join for that reason
