5 of the 6 subclass quests done...be glad to get striker one out the way!

Ashamed to say I have been annoying people in my completion of the last step on some. Started The Devil's Lair strike then sparrowed over to the cosmodrome patrol spawn and done the major/ultra/orbs gen part there before heading back over. Sorry!

How did you manage the sunslinger one? Best strike to do it on? Kills don't seem to register for me, maybe 3-4 max per super so I run out of time

Hmm that's not the subclass quests though. I've got the rewards for all 5 no probs.

The patrol quest is something that kicks off randomly when you complete the top level of the sparrow rift-racing patrol. There's a chain of 3 or 4 extra missions you complete....did that and got no rewards.

The Faction specific quests are the quests that now kick off when you hit level 25 with a faction, and should ultimately reward you with the exotic faction class item.

Ah ok - what rewards did you get for the subclass quests?

Do you have to get the kills in the strike or can you do the fusion rifle trick (last step of Pocket Inifnity) and simply go to where there would be enemies at the same level on the planet (so Temple of Crota if you are doing the Summoning Pits)?

I did Devil's Lair and went to the 3 hive yellow spawn in the Steppes.

1) Bad Juju is your friend, use it on all the subclass quests to get your super up

2) Devil's Lair, while he's hacking the mesh generator. Just spam solar grenades on the doors the enemies come out of, easily got the kills there.

Oh, apparently you are supposed to get emblems from the subclass quests, they are in the emblem kiosk.

Still, complete the chains and don't hand the last one in til next week.

Does anyone know if you can earn vanguard rep still? I'm sure someone said last night they weren't earning crucible rep but I am at max so can't check. I have about 135 on my warlock so wouldn't mind bumping that over 150 if I can.

Edit: So we can still do the missions we get off Ikora (and the other two, I can't remember their names) just don't complete any patrol or faction ones before next week.

You can do the sub-quest missions, just don't hand the last one in. You're meant to get a level 40 class item and an emblem for finishing it, and the emblem is bugged and not unlocking. You won't get it retroactively either, so don't finish it if you're bothered about the emblem.

I think shotguns are still very viable in PvP, in PvE is another matter. They got a 45% damage nerf as far as I'm aware on PvE. I was doing the weekly heroic Omnigul and Reaver Captains were a real pain even with a 365 Found Verdict. I understand enemies like a Reaver Captain are supposed to be a pain but I don't know, I think this particular nerf was a little too hard.

Yeah, it was Omnigul's strike yesterday that I realised my shotguns were doing bugger all. Now I've got Eris's Murmur fusion rifle and it is much better.

Now, a question about that rifle - it has a slot at the beginning called "Ascend" by which you can put 25 legendary marks in to get the attack value of this weapon to the highest available in year 1.

When you do this, does it fill in all the other slots automatically for you? Or do you have to mess about trying to find ascendant energy?

I think shotguns are worse in PvE than ever tbh. The damage they do is now only about 10% more than it was before the buff, but now they've nerfed all the year 1 perks so the guns seem to perform worse than ever. It's a real shame as although they were a bit OP (especially guns like 4th Horsemen that would melt enemies), they still had a risk about them forcing you to get close. Now it's just not worth it, I'd rather stay further back and simply snipe instead.

You'd still have to do the upgrades yourself, ascending the weapon just increases the attack value, it doesn't put any XP into it.

I don't understand that because the last few slots with the asc energy are all to do with increasing attack power. So if you max it out with the marks then what's the point with the last column of slots?

Anyway, I'm not too hung up about it - there are bound to be better weapons out there that make Murmur redundant anyway. Especially as it's a year 1 weapon. :p
