I appreciate from the tone of other threads there is little interest in these type of perpetrators.

These paedophiles have been truly vile, they broadcast their abuse over the web although the report does not give numbers of people watching.

We're not ignoring it, they've been investigated and convicted successfully. Getting comments from people like (predictably) deuse does not help anyone.

If we want people to haven't offended to get help before they become a danger to children we need to move away from the lynching.

Or instead how about we just get a prescribed list of "acceptable" threads first, God forbid people want to discuss something on a forum of all places.

It depends what is being discussed. Linking to a depressing DM article and waiting for the lynch mob to arrive or the EDL to turn up isn't a discussion, in my opinion. It sullies the boards and is rather pointless. It's also just god damn depressing too - if I want to see how miserable the world is I'll buy a newspaper.

I don't particularly like the threads either I'm just playing devils advocate, if you have an open forum barring the core rules it should be open IMO.

agreed, there's nothing really up for discussion here. no point to the thread other than to rant and rave and say what should be but will never be done to these 'things'

I appreciate where you are coming from, I was going to post the Independent link but given the other threads in GD it's seems the DM is the weapon of choice.

I suppose I was raising the point a paedophile is a paedophile regardless of background, Depravity has no boundaries if you have the make up to behave in such a manner

There wasn't even a discussion point in the op, it was just a link, and unsurprisingly a few people reply saying that paedos should have their willies cut off and stapled to their ears as a punishment, or something. It's much like the rectal discharge that gets sprayed all over immigration threads; there's no-two way exchange of information, it's just angry keyboard bashing. Still, everyone needs to vent every now and again I suppose.

It's the direction that GD takes these threads is the interesting part of this topic.

I see paedophilia as a vile act carried out on the vulnerable for it matters not who carried out the act but what we do as a society to protect the vulnerable. When I read threads in GD they spend more time pointing fingers rather than coming up with solutions to protect the victims.

Sometimes the human race can be so depraved it is beyond comprehension. For me this sort of act should see life ended. I am not concerned about the deterrent effect, I just want them gone as I think the rest of the human race should wash their hands of such pre-mediated actions.
