My new 390 Just arrived, got it installed and WOW.

I feel like a newb all over again because I want to say these words:

"what a beast" :p But truly, this card is fantastic, I mean my systems getting outdated now, but for what I do, this card is perfect so glad I picked the 390 instead of the 390x, this card is so cheap and cheerfully powerfull, its fantastic.

I absolutely love how its fans aren't active below 60c, its silent, and when the fans are active, the card never goes past 70c in benchmarking, fans run around 20% heh.

This card looks the bomb aswell, back plate is ooooh so sexy.

And as a extra bonus, its Hynix :D (though im not sure if there is elpida on 390s? haven't really been paying attention), so there is a lot of clocking headroom for the future.

But for what it is right now its great.

heres before and after:

7950 Single:

r9 390:

Also incase your wondering why I don't just use two 7950's, I had to put one in the Girlfriends PC as her 2900XT finally give up, And the reason for upgrading is this 7950 of mine is disintegrating slowly, screen started flickering now and then etc.

also heaven:

Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0

GPU model:

and after:

Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0
FPS:
56.9
Score:
1433
Min FPS:
24.8
Max FPS:
114.5

Quite a graphics score improvement, and it does show in games and when video recording for youtube which is what I do most.
I didn't know how much of a improvement to expect over one heavily over volted overclocked 7950, but its quite massive. It's still not as fast as when I had two 7950s, but Christ, the silence and everything that comes with it makes it so much more worth it.

Love it.

Highly recommend anyone whos system is similar who has a budget but want to upgrade to get a MSI 390.

Only issue is its red, but I actually love this card in red, but it doesn't match my colour scheme, tho these days, I cant remember the last time I looked at my pc or showed it off so not too bothered about the colour. as long as it performs how I want :D

Very nice!!!

The only thing which annoys me about the MSI card is the lack of colours available on the MSI logo!

O.o

The msi logo you can change its colours? heh, didn't even know will have to look into that.

Or do you mean lack of colours because it cannot be changed?

Also, I forgot to say, thank you OCUK once again for speedy delivery, only ordered last night and arrived in good time this morning!

You can change the behaviour of the LED using the MSI Gaming App but you can't change the colour - wish you could!

I was like yourself mate, had the 7950's for so long. I was waiting on FuryX, but after it's ridiculous launch and it's totally underwhelming performance for the price it was, I decided on going the MSI 390 route months back. Not one card, but two of the beasts, once you've had two cards, very hard to go back to one lol. But I can back it up, these cards are insane for the money, no need to go for the 390x for £100 more, 390 are good enough and in crossfire are so impressive.

At least change out the blue accents for red ones on the Corsair fans Ice ;)

my two babies, soon to go under water next week, 90% of project parts are sitting next to me :)

Heh, yeah I guess I could change the fan rings to Red ones, also these LED's in my case are changeable colour and the red does look decent, but iv got blue cables and blue mobo etc :p so nah ill keep the blue for now :)

Next upgrade I do, ill probably go red motherboard etc and red lighting

Very smart build.

I have SLi GTX Titans for a while and while they were great, I decided to go back to one card. When you have a single card pulling more then the previous generation, it's easy to go back but doesn't look as impressive from the case side ;)

Glad you're liking it, I like mine too. So, how are those legendary bad drivers of AMD's holding up? Giving you utter hell I expect? ;)

Ooooh snap, the same card(x1) and the same case as me. What are the temperatures in that case with both cards? I'm tempted to get another. How's Xfire holding up gaming-wise? :)

no issues with drivers at the moment, but it was bad first half of the year. Crossfire flying in games, so much power and no issue hitting 120fps/144fps at 1440p in games (Witcher 3 and Crysis 3 exceptions in my collection) but mainly incredible.

Not going to lie, temps do get high, mid 80s when they are both at full chat, but that's mainly down to my motherboard PCI-e slots being quite close. I'm going full water next week, got 90% of a £600 loop sat right here next to me, soon, very soon, both cards going to be loving life lol.

Firestrike 1.1 with 390's in Crossfire if anyone is thinking later down the line. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5960123

Told ya. :) Not worth the extra cash for around 5 - 7% or so performance. Glad you like it. Nothing quite like being chuffed with a purchase. :)

I do love a good colour coded interior.

On a side note I really do think the 390 is one of the best price/performance cards you can get.
