**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

Oh? That's a bummer - Will keep for the Z5 then.

Edit*
Well it must support it because I just finished testing and here's what I found. Ran the p[hone down to 55%, started charging using Aukey QC 2.0 via the DK45 Sony dock (which supports QC 2.0 and even shows the QC2.0 output voltage on the back too). Let it charge to 65% and make note of time taken. Then did the same with the bundled Sony charger on the DK45.

Aukey QC2.0 on DK45:
55% > 65% = 12 mins

Standard charger on DK45
55% > 65% = 15 mins

Obviously 10% at mid capacity is a small amount anyway, but just to give an idea. The difference in time would be greater over a larger elapsed charge percentage.

I noticed the phone got warmer when using the QC charger too. The time left until fully charged was also different at 65% charged with each charger. the Aukey stated 35mins left until full, the stock Sony one stated 49 mins.

So it seems the UK Z3 does take advantage of at least some quick charge capabilities over the standard charger.

Fair do's. Is the old charger 1.5A? As that would explain the slight increase in speed.

Do a proper test from 5% to 50% with the aukey and standard charger. Aukey should take half hr and the sony Noticeably longer.

Many websites say only the Japanese variants support QC2.0.

The Sony stock charger is 5v 1.5Amps, even with my 5v 2Amps charger from the Galaxy Tab it takes ~2.5hrs to fully charge.

I did this new test from 5% to 50%, here's my findings!

Code:
5%	@ 17:57
30% @ 18:23 (26mins)
50%	@ 18:46 (49mins)

With the Battery screen saying 56mins left until full when it ticks over 50% charged.

So total charge time would equate to 1hr 45mins.

Considering it took 26mins to get to 30%, this would coincide with what Sony state about QC2.0, where a 10min charge would give 5.5hrs usage and a 45min charge, a day. Give or take.

I imagine Sony may well have done something in the Lollipop update which triggered QC2.0. All the posts stating QC is Japan only are pre-5.1 update.

I would sit it out and let it get to 100% to confirm but I have to pop out in a moment and right now at 64% it says 41mins left until full:

Yeah that isn't QC2.0. It should take half hr to get to 50%. No longer than 35 mins.

Plus charging slows down at after 85% so you can't extrapolate linearly.

You'll be getting QC1.0 speeds I. E. 10watts as opposed to 15watts QC2.0.

Anyone heard of this:

My microphone works correctly. Diagnostics records and plays back.
I can make voice calls through whatsapp.

When I make a phone call....it doesn't work (using stock dialer) No one can hear me, same if I change the audio output to speaker.

Restart the phone.

There is a weird bug if the screen recorder is used, then the mic won't work in calls when making a call. Set to external speaker then back to ear piece and the mic works again. Seems an app or service isn't being reverted back to available once the recorder is done with it or something like that.

Seems to be the only outstanding bug I have experienced anyway. I have since started using AZ Screen Recorder as that does revert the mic back to an available state.

Can't say I've noticed that, when unlocking ina normal room it stays at the brightness it was turned off on. Maybe it does though I'm not sure, never paid attention and at work now, it seems normal :o

Strange, I havent used the screen recorder.
Ive restarted and it didnt fix it but a complete power down has....will keep an eye on it, cheers

I was just about to pick a Z3 up when I read online that it seems to have a design fault - something about the glass cracking even when left on its own with no stress applied.

Seems like up to 30% of Z3's are suffering from this if you look at a poll on FB of around 1369 responders.

Is this true? it's the first time I'm hearing about this with the Z3 and dont wanna buy it if it's even remotely true

Has anyone had any issues with the headphone jack on these? I've never had a problem with previous phones, but the jack on my z3c has already been replaced once and is now broken again. Any little wiggle to the phone or cable and the music pauses.

Talking of cracking, I did this to my z3 last night :(

It slipped out of my hand and landed face down on the drive from a height of about 6 inches. The screen is fine though, the glass and touch matrix are not. So I'm having to use a mouse and keyboard to use it until it's replacement arrives.
