Whats a good replacement for 2 x 680's?

Maybe because you can get 970 for cheaper? at least that is what I have seen. Also some people just prefer nvidia over AMD.
390 and 390x do seem like good cards, you definitely wont be hitting vram limit for games any time soon with 8gb on 1080p.

I'd go 390 non x myself, more versatile for future monitor upgrades, even if you don't think you want one now. I've always bought a bigger monitor to replace the last one to brake :D 1440p for me next 4k isn't quite ready for me.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies!

Sorry I forgot to mention I am only gaming at 1080P and have no plan to go 4k. Also I'm running a Corsair 750w PSU (think its a builders series non modular version)

I've had a look at some 970's and they seem pretty bang for buck despite that 3.5+5gb vram issue (if you can even call it that).

Are there any heat issues with the 390 or 390X?

Also had a looked at this:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-041-IN&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010

Would anyone recommend it? It looks beast!

No heat issues with the 390s. I got me a Powercolor one, and it didn't even hit 70C

Also heres a good review 390 vs 970 custom http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Sapphire-Nitro-Radeon-R9-390-8GB-Review/Metro-Last-Light
390 wins against the 1280MHz boost clock 970. Both have roughly 15% OC in them so its the same with OC

second hand 390X or 980 would be my choice.

I wouldn't want anything slower or the same as your current set up so would avoid the 390/970 personally.

Thanks guys

I'm gonna take a look at 390X's and 980's first and see what prices I can get them at.

Thanks for your help!

My Old thread but im back on the market for a single card again. Yes i am still using the 2x680's from back knows when but they really are starting to struggle.

Recommendations?

Got a budget of about £250 but want something that can last as long as my dual 680's have done.

Show me these £250 2nd hand 1070s. :p

RX 580 for 350 quid, ouch.

mining for ya plus the cheaper models are only 4gb and out of stock or just simply 4gb, i know the OP is playing at 1080p, but i dont play gta on pc so i dont know the demands at high settings, ive never used more than 1.7gb on high demanding games on high at the same res.

you could probably find a desperate seller of a 1070 or half of a 1070 for £250 ha

If you are sticking with 1080p for the next few years then a 6GB Gtx 1060 should do, if you are not desperate they have being on special offer from £220ish if you shop around.

A GTX 980ti would be a good bet though if you can find one on MM cheap otherwise.
