It's remarkable, they have managed to now annoy everyone. The east of europe were furious once she let them in but the inevitable demands for them to be rehoused in the west so that they can pay for Germany acting unilaterally and illegally on a hugely contentious issue that even initial supporters at home are having second thoughts about will dwarf any goodwill/PR generated by appearing humanitarian.

The invincibility of merkal seems to be slipping. It's also worth pointing out as well as the initial rule breaking, her plaster for the amputation, border controls on the German border between two Schengen states is also illegal.

Someone is going to get a promotion as its finally dawned that not everyone is an asylum seeker...

Kronen Zeitung said that Bavarian police will begin to carry out checks "to determine immediately who is entitled to asylum", but it is not clear how such checks would be made.
