Parents living in past

I'm 25, and whenever I have to look after my dads house (his office is at home, so needs someone to look after the phone/emails). He always, always, gives me a tour of the house (that I have already been to multiple times), explains how the cooker works, how the shower works, where the towels are, extra numbers incase of emergencies ..

Everytime.

My daughter is 11 but if I am still around when she is 50 I will still use my pet names for her. It wasn't until I had my own children that I really understood how much a parent can love their child.

My dad struggle to grow up and still treats my sister and me like we are still 18 and 14. Anyone have parents like this and do you think its weird to call your 35 year old married daughter "baby" in a WhatsApp group chat?

They have earned the right to do so!

They changed your ****** nappies!

Enjoy it while it lasts, the day will come when "you" will have to change "theirs"! Then you will know what it really means to grow up!

I still have both parents alive, I don't really care if they do anything embarrassing - they're my parents, my friends frankly expect it these days as my dad taught most of them techie at school so they know what he's like!

As one of my cousins once told me, you bitch about your parents then when they've passed away you wish they were still around for you to bitch about. Love them whilst they're here, they won't always be and if growing older has taught me one thing - you never know when someone you love will be taken away from you.

I still hug my daughter[21] and call her sweetheart. Not sure I'd call her "babe" or "baby"..does seem an bit creepy.

Is she happy being called that more's the point?

So?

Kids suck.

It's not a requirement.

Feeble troll is feeble.

You're absolutely right. You should have kids by the time you are 17.

At least, that seems to be the trend lately.

LOL... you guys are funny... it's a simple and easy explanation of why he doesn't get what he is frustrating over in the OP :p

Parents always see their kids as kids, even if they treat them like grown ups... I've grasped this simple concept and I and younger than him...
