I've been thinking a lot recently about where to go after my A3. It's great but i'm hankering for something more fun (plus my circumstances changed a bit and I'd like to treat myself!). I've been looking at maybe the new A Class, maybe the AMG model; or maybe something rear wheel drive out of BMW. I'm not sure yet but i've got time to think about it.

I thought it'd be interesting though to hear from everyone else what you're planning?

So.. what's next? and why?

Depressionville for me, currently driving a boring as hell A4 Avant Diesel. Ive also got two lovely girls, 3 and 1.5, and wifey is already talking about a third. Now im not against the idea, but it does mean the next car will have to be another sensible one, and judging by how much crap we carry for 2 kids, if we have a 3rd, its likely im going to have to have a LWB hitop twin axle sprinter:p

I jest a little, but as my next company car is due next year, it will have to be another estate at the minimum, and a another diseasal. Im seriously contemplating a Skoda Superb, as it seems to be one of the few cars that can accomodate 2 baby seats and an adult in the rear.

Dont ever have kids folks :p

Silvia S15, R33 GTR or R34 GTT...

I have a JDM itch I need scratching!

I've been considering going JDM. Lots of S2000's I really like the look of.

Currently have a Fiesta ST which has just shy of 200Bhp so it's a very fun car to drive but I want something different. Had my eyes on an Audi S3 for some time now.

Recently decided I would do my Bike license though and get something a bit more thrilling with 2 wheels

Wow, my situation seems very similar to yours. Except I'm in a 5 series estate.

Next car purchase for me will be a boring one. Looking at either B6 Passat or mk4 Mondeo, 2.0 TDI, hopefully an estate. This will be to run alongside the 5 series as a commuter / daily runner sort of car.

When the 5 series does go, it will likely be replaced with a Discovery of some description, most likely in HSE spec. Either the current 4, or whenever they release the new one, if it looks good enough, and I keep the 5 series that long. This will be mainly for the kids, as like above, the wife is considering a third child, and the 7 seats of the Disco will be useful. Plus I like them, lots.

The plan then is, depending on how the commuter motor is working out, that I might get something a little more fun for myself. Thinking along the lines of a S6 / S8, or E55 AMG or similar. That being said, I do like the sound of a 400 BHP Golf, and have been admiring the current gen R's for a while now. Obviously RS3's are comparable to this.

But there is nothing from BMW that excites me really. The M5 is surely a monster, but I would have to have a F11, and they dont do the M5 in an F11. Maybe a 550i, but then why not get one of the sportier offerings from elsewhere. Or I could save my pennies for a 911 or DB9 or GTR or similar.

330i me thinks here - or hope anyway when the Golf goes pop. Probably an E46 as I can't afford any of the new stuff :(

Just trying to figure out if the auto-box is any good, as the majority of them seem to be auto :(

This is ocuk so obviously my next car will be a Ferrari or perhaps a Veyron. Then I'll quietly purchase another dull 5 Series and hope nobody noticed I once pretended I would buy something exotic.

Some of the old what car next threads are hilarious :D

Ideally an E91 325d Sport or 330d Sport Auto, with lots of option boxes ticked. 2010-2011 preferably so you get the combox iDrive and revised engines. They're still around £15k though so maybe once they've dropped in price slightly.

Nothing exciting for me:

Some kind of 7 Seater to replace the Wife's fiesta when I can afford it (Probably a Qashqai+2), and probably change my A3 for the newer shape A3 with a 1.4 engine

I'm stuck slightly in limbo. I'd like my next car to be a RHD V8 convertible S550 Mustang but they're only coming in limited numbers and with a RRP of £45k it'll be a while before they get close to the budget I'd consider (£20k ish). I'd say at least 4 years and probably a bit longer.

So that leaves me with two choices;

1) Keep my current Mustang
2) Replace my current Mustang with something in the mean time

Option 1 isn't really viable for 4-5 years, the car (although I absolutely love it) is a nightmare in the winter and it lacks the sort of power and toys I'd like. Option 2 is the most likely but I can't really decide what I want. It needs to be rare, fun with a massive engine and stupid amounts of power - all of which add up to cars above my budget.

I think what I'll end up doing is keeping the Mustang for another 12-18 months before settling into something for 3 years and then getting one of the new shape Mustangs.

So in answer to your question - nfi.

Combox is absolutely not worth the massive premium a 2011 carries over an otherwise identical 58 plate 330d.

Can retrofit it for 500 quid if you are that desperate anyway. The E90 series is an old car now, makes little sense to pick a pricey 11 plate when an early LCI is the same.

True, but I'd want the combox for the BT streaming i.e spotify; I'd still want an LCI with the later engines. 325d makes sense for me.

I'm two years away from the next gen 5 Series Touring, not diesel.

Before that : 6-7 weeks away from a Golf R Estate

Unfortunately none of those really seem that exciting after a couple of years of a LHD Mustang (which has always been my dream car). The AT links are for cars I wouldn't consider due to toys and not being modern enough (I only run 1 car so something like an AC Cobra isn't suitable).

I do like the M6 but can't say one excites me over my Mustang (which I understand is crazy as the M6 is a far better car in every way). I think I'd miss the in your face, rare uniqueness of the Mustang.
