Help me change car

Prefer the shape/look of the newer Meganes personally - Might be worth trying to stretch the budget:

Also bear in mind that whilst you are saving on Fuel, that's is only part of the running cost, things like tyres on the RS Megane are more expensive than your 172 (£115 vs £75/corner)

Or the Megane GT Tce - the petrol GT.
Lucky to find many for ~£6k (or many at all for that matter) but a suggestion at least.

I'm going to view a Dci Megane 175 tomoz.
I am actually excited about it, i do like megans a lot. Might be because i have driven one for the last 7 years (wifes 1.5dci)... and never had any issues with my back and how it drives..

I do very much like the shape and how the Meganes drive, my wife has a 1.5DCI megane. Very comfy..

But a 1.5DCI is not a Renaultsport 175? The suspension is lower and harder as you surely know form the Clio - something which you said:

Its not all about saving money wesley, i want a change, and i want a car thats newer, somewhere i can drive to work in that wont hurt my back on every bump. (broke it 2 years ago)

I get that you want a newer car, but if that's all you want then why buy a generation old Megane rather than the newer shape one?

you obviously decided you want to change the car.

^ Pretty much sums up this thread (but you had already decided and just needed to self justify it)

Im going for the Non cup packed version, so not as stiff on the suspension side, smaller wheels too.
Its cheap, so fits my price range, has the better MPG and i like the shape and the inside.

GO have a drive of a 2.2 diseasel Type S civic mate, or a EX (5 door)
A few hundred quid for a remap and you're lookin at the high end of 180bhp

Will see whats out there local Divine, thanks

edit: Nice car those. Good specs on paper and with a remap prob better than the megane. And my wife has always wanted a civic.
Whats the build quality like on these civics?

I looked into the 2.2 diesel civics, before going for a 2.0TDi, the clutch and dmf are a weak point and don't take well to remaps. The engine in them is suppose to be pretty good though.

Wouldn't bother with the map - had mine both with and without, never missed it once it was gone. I came from the opposite position most people do whereby it was on the car when I got it

Yes it gives a bit more straight line poke, but it can't change the fact it's a diesel civic

Clutch aside they're pretty good reliability wise, need to watch body corrosion has been sorted under warranty on the roof line, under b pillar covers and, new to my fn2 along the inside mid weld on the doors.

Hey all.
I have been able to raise my budget to 8k.

This is by a loan from a family member, but the stipulation is that it needs to be less than 5 year old and be less miles the better.
I'm struggling to find something that fits the bill!

"Thanks but no thanks"

Both those stipulations are pretty pointless and won't result in you owning a better car. Banks also loan money and wont place arbitrary conditions on what you buy.

Shame your so strict on the MPG you can get a 2010 Prodrive Subaru Impreza 2.5 WRX 5dr for 7500 quid and its only got 65k on the clock :D

wow thanks for taking the time.
those bmws definitely fit the bill, will go have a look at one :D

Did you look at the megane in the end? I'm interested to know how you found it as the GT petrol coupe is on my window shopping list. Cheers.

I did, But i decided it too much of a risk with such high miles.

I had a look at a Mazda3 2.2D Sport on the way home.
Looks nice, sounds good and has the toys i would want.

its £8k and had 32k miles so not a high miles car and is only a 2011 model.

Hopefully on sunday its mine if they reduce the price by £300

If you can't manage to get £300 off an £8k car then I don't know what to say.

well the sales guy was adamant they wont be moved on the price. I said.. we will discuss that when the cars ready.

they want £8500. And tbh i dont want to spend any more than £8000.
