I am in the market for a new chair, i have been pondering it for some time, i have had an el-cheapo chair for the last 5 years that's starting to really fall to bits now. I don't suffer from back issues however i am starting to get RSI in my elbow\hands from overworking and the chair is not helping at all.

The Mirra 2 and the Aeron are both the same price and i noticed Mirra 2 has some nice improvements since the Mirra 1 but does it really stand up against the Aeron? I am welcome to other suggestions but everywhere i look both are highly rated with the Aeron coming out on top most of the time.

I am not a fan of the embody, if anything it looks like a downgrade of the Aeron.

I tried the Aeron and Mirra 2 out back to back and found the Mirra 2 generally less comfortable, but, that's only going off a couple of minute of sitting in each, i've had my Aeron for a month or so and I'm very happy with it.

I found the Mirra 2 less comfy than the original, hence what I bought the original. Ive had my Mirra for circa 2 years I think. Good chair, supports your back and bum well and you can use it for hours without pain. Sign of a good chair.

Sat on an Aeron for work for about 6 years.
The lip at the front can dig in behind the knee.

I'm going for the Mirra 2 in the next 6 months for reference.

Steelcase = cushion not mesh so not for me.
Also going to get a little battery case and a 120mm fan, have cooled testies.

I sat on an Aeron at my previous office for nearly 10 years, and have a Mirra 2 at home which I've used for 2.5 years. I find the Aeron is generally more comfortable when initially sitting in it, but the Mirra 2 is much more comfortable for long term use. As Capt. Fizz says the Aeron really can dig into the back of your legs, which encourages me to slouch. The Mirra 2 has an adjustable depth so that the front lip of the seat can roll downwards and away from the back of your knees.

I have a Steelcase Jack at my current place of work, and it's certainly not bad but the cushioned seat is not in the same league as a mesh seat for me.

How well do these chairs hold up? I was thinking of buying one second hand.

Herman Miller have an 8 or 12 year warranty that is for 24/7 use.

So basically have a person sitting on it for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for years.
So one person sitting on it for 5 hours a day - Should last a lifetime :)
