Hi there guys is it worth it to buy Noctula NH-D15 2nd hand for £25 as I need to get rid of my h100i as it's not leaking but makes humming noise and it's from the pump I isolated the sound.

As the owner of an NH-D15S, bar the fans being worn out, unless it's taken a bump I'd say that was a good buy, not much to go wrong and a top quality unit.

Just to make sure is good idea to buy nh-d15 2nd hand as I never purchased use parts. I dont thin there could be something wrong with it as it's only metal heatsink, only fans can be worn out but cooler was release just over year ago so I dont think it was used much and 150k of hour fan working stated on noctua website . What do you think?

Also what other parts can be purchased 2nd hand with low chance of being damaged?

Noctua offerexcellent customer service, have a look at their website to see what spares they carry!

As for the cooler being second hand. As long as the hardware for fitting is there it seems a good price, if not, look at the cost of your fittings etc. They are very well made coolers, and not much goes wrong apart from size being an issue when some change hardware.

Also ensure it will fit, it is rather large, and ensure the seller is reputable.

I buy nearly everything 2nd hand.

Super cheap 2nd hand market with a great community. Never had any issue in 30+ transactions.

Noctua are indeed fantastic.

My first order from them was a pair of NF-A15's. They came with a missing adapter (turned out to be a mistake on their data sheet). They thanked me for pointing it out (and I noticed they immediately corrected it on their website) and offered to send me the adapters. I said okay and threw in a cheeky bid for any old 140mm fans they may have laying about somewhere?

A few weeks later and a biggish parcel arrives with like 7 or 8 adapters, TWO 140mm fans and a complimentary pen lol (which is actually still my fave pen, so even with their pens they put thought into it). That's Noctua customer service for you.

I'd go for it.

Grumble. Well I didn't receive a pen with my Noctua shipment. Would have liked to get one. Maybe you have to spend a bit more money with them.

I generally buy new in fairness howe3ver there are certain things i would buy 2nd hand like graphics cards etc. If you are able to see the item before hand it always helps but look out for things like bent fins, chipped paint, liquid residue and also how dusty the item is. I recently bought a 2nd hand gpu and it was SO noisy. after taking the heatsink off, new thermal paste and a bit of oil to the fan i can hardily hear it!

The item was advertised on gumtree so I could go and see it myself. When I saw it, I couldn't resist and I just got it. It looks as new. I was surprised that no bend fins etc. I installed in as h100i replacement and temperature are really similar but the best part is its a lot quiet. No more humming noise :D I dont know if humming was from sp120 fans or pump but never mind it's all good now.

Also why is market from 1000 posts? That is quiet a lot

Lastly than you all for replies

It's a perk for being a dedicated and long time member.

I'm here for year and half almost so another year and I ill have 1k posts without spamming all over the place :P Thanks again for your replies.

I am glad its 1000 posts. This members market is so different from anything else out there and i really feel i can trust every soul who posts on there. Prices tend to be far cheaper than all other second hand markets and the offerings definitely a step up.

If they lowered requirements to MM then itl turn into just another second hand trading forum section with most members logging on just for a bargain and to make a quick quid on something they bought second hand elsewhere.

Once you have access, you will understand why MM here is on a different level to gumtree/avforums or any of the other places and needs the 1000+ post requirement.

1000 posts is a lot, I've been a forum member for 3 years now, and done (3 well 2.5) build logs.... and I've still got 400 posts to go...

1000 is fine, means you have actively contributed to the forum in a meaningful way and it adds an extra level of protection towards those of us who use it.

Long may the 1000 limit remain.

Its not how long you spend or how many build logs you have but how active you are in the community. There is a short time limit and a small post limit currently and it works well.

If they were to lower the limit to 250 posts like it was years ago, then you risk letting in trolls and undedicated members who are not active enough in the community to be trusted. Many of the trades have a significant sum of money exchange hands and we all know there are people out there willing to trade a free forum account with only a few hundred posts, for a few hundred quid in their pocket at the expense of trustworthy members.

The members market may be slightly less active than other trading communities but it is amongst the best out there for a reason and though you may say that 1000 posts is a lot, you cant say it is too much until you know what it is like and why it is like that.
