Just had a nosey and came across the Titan Z on the shop page. They have 10+ in stock. Realistically how are they going to sell them when they are well over £1100.00 (£1139 I think) I doubt people will buy them at that price so what happens to them? Does OCUK take the hit and sell them for £500 or what happens? HUGE haircut on the margins for each card and when you have over 10+ in stock, that soon adds up.

I remember the 295x2 being sold at a daft £400 at one stage. Similar thing then? Flog the Titan Z at a massive loss just t clear stock?

I think people are going to be buying up the Nano's in 1 months time when OCuk realise no one wants them at that price. Probably going to be 200 - 300;)

I would probably buy a Titan Z for £400 but anymore is a no no for me. I wouldn't use it either and would keep it boxed as a collectors item, as I don't expect they sold many in truth :D

We just leave them, they dribble out at 1-2 units per month and we only have 15 left.

If push comes to shuff and we still have them in say a years time we would ask NVIDIA/Gigabyte for funding to clear the stock without ourselves making a loss. :)

Does OcUK take the hit or does nVidia?

Nvidia don't take the hit on Graphics Cards as they just sell chips to Board manufacturers.

Board manufacturers don't want a warehouse full of unsold stock, so come end of product they have to sell to retailers at a reduced rate (but this is somewhat offset with increased demand and markup at start of a products lifecycle).

OCUk will likely take the hit, but again they also take the gains at the start when stock availability is low, and by committing to larger volumes initially will get a preferential rate, increasing margin whilst the product is selling well, allowing reductions later.

Presumably based on how well previous top end cards sell, they also have a decent idea of how many to hold stock of, and how long they can continue to sell at a given price.

EDIT:
Just seen Gibbo's replies - Good insight as usual - thanks

It's pretty simple. Making a loss on some units left over can still be used to boost overall profit as long as at the end you don't fall short of the break even zone..

Isn't the Titan Z still the go to double precision/gaming card on the market? If that's right then as slow as it may be too sell there is still a niche position within the market where it is the best card available.

EDIT: Once again I see that this point has already been made, Damn you I say, DAMN YOU ALL.... (Referencing: Planet of the Apes, In case anyone was wondering, which you weren't, but you could have been.)
