Gmail Contacts

I have one work colleague who is an email contact of mine. For some strange reason i cannot permanently change their contact name!! I change it, and when they send an email it still shows as the old name!!

I have tried everything i know it still remains the same!! If they email me at my wifes email address it comes up as the right name!!

Is this a Gmail glitch?

Have you got this email address entered twice under different contact names.

When you receive an email, Gmail will see the first entry and display it's name not realising that the email address is also stored against another name later in the alphabet and that is the one that you are trying to change.

This - although check the "Other Contacts", as this is where the auto complete entries tend to end up (default option in settings to add new addresses), so might be in there.

I have deleted all instances of that contact but it still comes up with the same name.
