Any ideas how to boost phone reception?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend something which will boost mobile phone signal.

Our current office is currently in a 4G area so the reception (when you go outside) is fine, however the main offices are below ground and don't receive any signal. We've resorted into using a laptop to create our own Wi-Fi just for WhatsApp.

Looking online such devices exist, however I stumbled across this link from Ofcom; http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/phone/mobile-phones/coverage/mobile-repeaters/

Cheers

would that be for phone signal or internet signal tough?

Data coverage isn't really a problem as we have the Wi-Fi setup, so it's mainly for calls.

I've seen that specific network providers have their own signal boosters which plug into the internet to send and receive calls but I was looking for something more generic due to people being on different networks etc...

It's becoming a problem as I'm missing calls. I received a voice mail at 2pm the other day, the voice mail icon didn't appear onto my phone until 7 that evening. At that point it's too late to call back.

There are ones that boost all signals.

Not entirely 100% legal afaik but one of our business units just bought one, are buying a second as everyone is impressed by it.

Just don't have anything electronic within 6 feet of it. ;)

Vodafone suresignal, Three Home Signal, O2 Boost Box, EE Signal Box

All of the networks do them so get one which suits your corporate contract?

Contact your provider and complain about coverage and they'll likely send you a booster thingy. It won't help anyone on a different network but they knew the risks.

Try a cheap £5 feature phone, I find their reception can be much better than a smart phone and if just for calls then that's what they do. Worth a try.

You can get mobile signal boosters, we had them at the last palce we worked.

Also most mobile companies offer ones which divert your calls via the internet for poor reception inside.

Some are free or cheap to buy.
