How to get a Dealer to drop their price?

Good luck getting any of that sorted to a "high standard" and anything other than a cheap ditchfinder tyre fitted. They'll do it as cheaply as possible.

As others have said, you made the mistake of putting down a deposit before attempting to negotiate, when it should have been the other way round, therefore I highly doubt they'll entertain lowering the price.

Car sounds a bit of a dog with all those issues, why arent they sorting them out as a matter of course anyway? They do want to sell it, right?

Perhaps times have changed, but I wouldn't have a lot of faith in the dealer letting the car sit in that condition (Not even washing it??!?) and asking 8.5K? Do one.

At any rate, I come from the "You don't ask, you don't get" camp, so go view the car and be honest. You have 8k, you're prepared to buy it for that - yes or no. Let them make the decision.

If they say no and you really want it, give it a week or two (I bet it'll still be there) - ring them up and say "Last chance, 8k or not?"

I'm sure you can call your insurance company and get more time if needs be.

So to sum up....

You've paid £100 to be first in line to test drive a 4 year old mazda diesel costing £8500, but you only want to pay £8,000 - the car has three alloys curbed, needed all 4 to be refurbed to a high standard. One Tyre needed to be replaced. Paint work damage around rear left reflector. Scuffs to rear bumper, 2 carpark dings to passenger door.

I'm sure there was loads of other people "queuing" up test drive that car.........:rolleyes:

Why would the dealer not have already sorted all these issues if the car was up for sale?

Don't forget that it's a diesel that's only done 8k miles a year too.

Because they listed it only 1 day after they got it, and i went in 3 days after they had got it.
Got knows why they list things for sale when they aren't ready to view, but thats what they do for all their cars.

The only other one i can get to is in castle donington which is a Blue model with 52k Miles on the clock.

Also this one has had the Cam chain done already under recall with Mazda and was registered on 12/12/2011. So very close to a 2012 car.

The only possible time the dealer is going to offer to reduce the price is once OP has had his refund and is halfway out the door.
'Oh, Sir! Wait a minute, my finance manager just emailed me and he's authorised me to etc etc'

Is this the same guy who posted a massive thread about a Clio, ignored all the advice and ended up with a total lemon?

Yes:

Oh i think i have.
Bought a Clio 172 from a dealer, Found it required a major service due to Dephaser pully splitting within 3 days.

Garage refused to carry out a service.

Was forced to pay £945 for a garage to repair the damage and renew pullys and belts.

Then the Dealer shut up shop within weeks and then 3 months later came back at the same location with the same name, BUT they changed from JRC Autos to JAC Autos.

This was enough for my court case to have no effect on them what so ever.

I have been screwed over plenty thanks

I think the OP only wanted everything he's done thus far to be supported by people here, and he didn't actually want advice. He's totally ignoring some blantantly obvious issues that the forum members have raised!

Yes, and the ignoring of advice continued in his what car thread that has somehow lead him to this Mazda

Pretty much summed up his Help me change car thread, which had requirements that changed almost hourly, had all but decided on another Renault, only to somehow change to a Mazda.

:D

It changed to the Mazda Because the Budget increased.
And with said increase came requirements.
Less than 5 years old and low miles. Yet still going to give good MPG and performance. The Mazda fit right in.

The others that fit were High miles, or Cat C Examples. Both something i dont want

Why don't you want a higher mileage that would mean that the engine has been used properly?

8k miles a year is going to be stop start town driving, probably by somebody who doesn't know anything about cars.

Don't also forget the lease thread building up to getting a 208 GTI. I mean Mazda.

Is this seriously going to have such a large effect on the car??

I didn't think it would have been an issue??

Educate me on why its a bad thing please, if its a serious issue i could convince them to allow me to go for the Blue 50k example
