Sure someone who is a refugee and perhaps steals something from Tesco or gets into a fight or whatever can perhaps stay still - but someone plotting to murder someone, put other lives in danger - well letting them stay because their life might be in danger once they've demonstrated they're happy to take other lives is just retarded.

Random dude in another country stabs police officer (not killing her). It's not as if it should be national news. We don't hear when other police officers are attacked in other countries. In fact the fact it made news here at all is fairly special.

That would be why it's not a prominent feature on UK news pages.

Not really, why would it?

If someone went round and killed or wounded a dozen people that would warrant a UK news story. For all we know this kind of thing happens dozens of times a year in Western Europe. The only difference in this case is the guy was convicted of terrorism offences in the past, rather than say drug smuggling of violent crime.
