need to find out whats the average price of clothes in a males wardrob

Couple of suits £500
Trousers/ shorts/ jeans £400
Work shirts £400
Casual shirts/ t shirts/ polo's £400
Undies/ PJs £250
Jumpers/ hoodies/ coats £500
£2,450 based on the above. Also got other stuff like ski clothes that haven't been included. Most of the above needs binning and replacing as I've had most of it for ages and it's tatty, too small etc etc.

On my home contents insurance all my clothes are insured for £5000. That includes a couple of suits. Its most likely above what they are actually worth.... but I'd rather be covered in the event and it’s not like it effects my premium that much. That said I do also own a few pairs of trousers, jeans and t-shirts that are FAR too big for me now. But I don't want to throw them.

Also do you include coats, ski clothing (if you have), outdoor gear if you go out adventuring into the lost tombs of tinfoilhaus's ?

(not so) stealth brag.

Not really, they are pretty cheap suits. But 5 suits at £200 each say plus a DJ and im at the average already.

Even my shirts I think are cheap with most been in the £10 to £20 range with oen or two special £50 to £100 ones.

But I guess thats the point of averages.

I was surprised to see that the average amount spent by men on clothes per year was only £256.

But i suspect the people on this forum do not represent the normal.

I'd concentrate on my written English and leave the fashion/economics for later, if I were you.

Fixed for me.
My hiking gear mainly my boots probably triples the value if not more. The bulk of my tshirt collection is £6 each.

Im not into fashion and I think I spend the bear minimum i can away with on clothes but even to replace all my shoes would cost £500 and there is nothign special about any of them.

Im starting to think al lot of people on here just walk away in clothes from primark and own only one pair of shoes.

I tend to only buy stuff with offers or deals, but my estimate, my currently active wardrobe:

Winter coat: £50
Autumn jacket: £30
Jeans: 5 branded pairs, between £30- £50 each
Cargo trousers: 2 pairs, £30 each
Chinos: 1 pair, £40
Shorts: 5 pairs, £20ish each
T-shirts: probably 20, between £5-£15 each
Works shirts: 10, £15ish each
Jumpers: 4, £20ish each
Suits: 2, £150ish each
Shoes: 2x trainers, 1 casual, 1 smart, 1 dress, £45ish each

So roughly £1,435

Ignoring hiking stuff, Two pairs.
One pair of trainers, one pair of shoes, shoes come out for weddings, funerals and interviews, one cheap suit which comes out the same. Work supply work clothes, so don't have any of that cost.

See even with that small quantity you are above the average. It amazes me that some people are claiming under £600 here.

does it have to be in the wardrobe? I tend to use my floor/mountainbike/desk as clothes storage too - the wife loves that:p

I take wardrobe to mean all your clothes in general. My good lady lets me have a bit of one wardrobe fro suits and shirts and thats it. She has most of the 3 wardrobes. :D

Have we met?

Jeans and a polo shirt is dressing up to go out for a special occasion for me. Live in t-shirts, cargo trousers and 2 pairs of Merrells.

Without footwear and winter clothing (including hiking kit), my wardrobe would cost around £750 to replace.

Add in the various winter boots, jackets and hiking gear, it's probably around £3,000 worth.

And that's before we get started on backpacks...
