Dual to single USB cable for increased amps?

Clearly my new phone is more power hungry than my old one, and the 500ma supplied by my work laptop USB port isn't enough.

If I hooked it up to the 2.1A of my portable charger, there is no problem.

So my question is, given that standard USB2 ports are limited to 500ma output, is there a cable or convertor that say plugs in to 2 USB ports, then has a single port at the end that can supply 1A?

According to the Dell manual, 2 on one side are standard USB2. and the other is Powered USB2, but all of them result in a net drain of battery if my phone is active.

Charge your portable charger from the laptop and charge the phone from the portable.
A bit chippy but should last longer.
