1. I wonder how much of that sum, and how much future resources, have been, or will be, spent on investigating the parents and their friends.

2. If you were going to do it, this was how you would want to do it.

Wasnt their justification that they paid off their mortgage and spent the money on living and holidays for the other children is that they had to give up work to travel the world to pursue sightings of Maddie?

Devil's advocate.
I believe they said it was as a stop gap measure, due to cash flow, and they repaid the amounts into the fund after their sorted their personal finances. This was my understanding, I certainly stand to be corrected.

I have discussed the McCanns previously on this form, and the obvious signs of what might be termed 'diagnosable flaws' present in the mother have been mentioned by myself and if I recall Xordium also in the past.
I don't feel we need to revisit the topic, but I do note, that each year as this thread appears, the are more of the 'They did it crowd' each year, and less of the 'those poor people' crowd, which in itself might be significant.

Quite amazed legal proceedings haven't been started by the McCanns against several forum members to help fund their campaign

a lot of that i have read before from the portuguese police reports. Plus the chief police officer after he was booted off the case released a lot of info reference the movements, statements not matching, the sniffer dogs, the toy, the blood etc

I'm not saying it didn't happen but I find it hard to believe that 3 days later they carried on 'as normal'.

A lot of that info comes from the Police chiefs report on the case where he stated he thought the parents did it and Maddie wasnt kidnapped.

I havent read all the statements so I wasnt saying it was in there, it wasnt me that said that btw.

However an awful lot of the other things thrown around about them is in there.

To be fair, after ready those interviews and reports, the McCanns should have been prosecuted for neglect. Other parents would have.

And I don;t like the fact that the chief investigating officer wanted to pursue the line of questioning that the parents were the main suspects but was told by the British authorities that he couldnt pursue that.

Also after his report he was replaced on the case.

No they wouldn't, this has been gone over time and time again even if it happened in Britain but this happened in another country which don't have our laws.
If you want to know what child neglect is you should have attended some of the lectures I've been to.

This is from the NSPCC site:

Neglect is the ongoing failure to meet a child's basic needs. A child may be left hungry or dirty, without adequate clothing, shelter, supervision, medical or health care.
A child may be put in danger or not protected from physical or emotional harm. They may not get the love, care and attention they need from their parents.

And ongoing doesn't mean they had done this several times on the trot either.

Sorry perhaps its not neglect then. Im sure some parents have been to court for not looking after their children properly. What do they get charged with?

It is neglect but it has to be done over and over.
Leaving a child/children 100 yards away while you have a drink or something to eat is not neglect but stupidity.
I know there is a case where parents did jail time for a one off and the child died but there was Extenuating circumstances.
