New Servers

Rather than using your ISP's likely poor DNS servers change them to either Google (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) or a mixture of both.

They usually propagate DNS changes in a matter of minutes if not seconds.

server was more important than a total overhaul but you never know we might be mobile compatible one day :D

Thank you for finally getting rid of serverstream. Iirc thats what you used before?

That guy must have milked ocuk good with his third class low priority high timeout hosting. Good riddance.

Now we just need to agree on whether to implement a yearly membership subscription fee or a pay per post system.
Gotta pay for the new servers somehow.

How are you guys checking your DNS server?
  1. Open command prompt
  2. Type nslookup, that will show you who your DNS server is at least:
    Default Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
    Address: 8.8.8.8
  3. Type forums.overclockers.co.uk:
    > forums.overclockers.co.uk
    Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
    Address: 8.8.8.8

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: forums.overclockers.co.uk
    Address: 185.103.4.11

You should see 185.103.4.11 (which I believe is the new IP) :).

If you don't, try typing ipconfig /flushdns and trying again.

By the way, your browser may cache the IP so the nslookup result may show the correct server but your browser not. For Firefox try DNS Flusher or for Chrome try going to chrome://net-internals/#dns (copy paste into the address bar and clicking 'clear host cache'.

Seems somewhat bizzare that OCUK have opted for a migration path that involves downtime for some customers. It's pretty easy to migrate websites with 0 downtime these days.
