I don't usually like putting out Police appeals like this but this is an exception.

It's been 48 hours since Jessica Horton (15) went missing from Winchester.
We're growing increasingly concerned for her welfare and need your help to keep sharing our appeal.
Jessica knows the areas of Reading, Newbury, Plymouth, parts of Wiltshire, as well as Winchester, where she was last seen at a youth club at Wesley Methodist Church, Fromond Road, at about 8pm on Sept 18
She is described as:
- White
- About five feet three inches tall
- Long, light brown hair
- She was wearing a grey marl 'Duffer' sweatshirt, black leggings and black Nike Air Max trainers.
If you've seen anyone matching the description in the past 24 hours, please call Hampshire Police on 101 quoting 44150324746.

Jessica is at substantial risk to her safety and so it's really important she's found soon.

I assume you have a personal interest in this matter? Fingers crossed this turns out good news in no time.

48 hours isn't long but I can see the concern. I would be concerned as your mind jumps to serial killer or something horrible, but she could turn up safe and sound. I once vanished for nearly a month from my family with no contact and there were no search parties sent out for me, it was simply me writing a letter to let them know I was alive and well. Maybe if she is ok, she will do the same.

48 hours is 47 hours to much for a young girl to be missing (1 hour for "being late as many kids do")

she's a child and everything should be done to find her, she could be at risk of exploitation

Teenagers are troublesome and emotional and hormonal and unpredictable. All I'm saying as an ex-teenager myself, is that this is not uncommon and she could well be safe and well and jumping to the worst conclusion might not be the right conclusion.

With all respect, I wouldn't be posting this for most run of the mill missing people. We search for many teenagers who go missing and most turn up but this case is different and the Police are very much justified in being very concerned.

With all respect I was simply playing devils advocate to your inference that she was or is at peril. I was simply stating a plausible notion that she has left the family to deal with whatever it is that might be troubling her. Assuming the worst is a natural reaction and I understand that but most times things have a way of resolving themselves in a way that's far less dramatic than our initial fears suggest.

Or, perhaps, you should trust the person who knows the details and the history?

Being that Burnsy is also plod, he might know something about the case that the general public may not know yet, hence the reason for higher concern (as he has already alluded to).

Well he should furnish us with the details if that is the case and not portray a shrouded version of the facts. How are we meant to debate if things are kept from us ?

Because we dont need to know her personal life or the prior events.

I know shes missing, where she is missing from and what she looks like from this post. More than enough info to help find her or jog peoples memorys who may have seen her and be able to provide information.
