I have a expensive TV, VT60.

My monitor is broke and I was debating using my VT60 as my main display for controller only games.. My OC has 970 sli.... Is it just overkill? Or worth using some DSR?

DSR is a gimmick IMO. If you want 4k, you need to buy a 4k TV. Paying too much for a 1080p TV doesn't really change that.

As for overkill, at 60Hz it probably is. You could always sell one of the 970's if you felt that one was giving you enough.

Not sure how much value the sli 970's give you anyway? Aren't they a bit ram limited with 4gb (/3.5gb)? Or does it not matter for most games at 1080p?

Sure I read shadow of mordor needs more ram so even in sli you won't be able to max.

As for DSR, I agree with String.. the difference is minimal in image quality and I got annoyed with my system constantly being taxed (so more power / heat issues).

I do like Ultra HD DSR as I find it can get rid of those rough edges and make the image cleaner. I'm not a fan of AA though so it suits me more.

Bit over the top imo, but sounds like you will still be using a monitor? I wouldn't worry, just whack the settings up!

DSR is the best anti-aliasing option available, don't think anyone relies on it instead of an higher resolution monitor :D

No it's not overkill, 970's are great 1080p cards and a pair will not only allow upto 144hz gaming but eye candy and DSR, I'm on a 75hz 1080p monitor at the moment and would love a second Fury, I use AMD's DSR which is VSR to run my games at 1440, while it is not true 1440 it does improve things visually so it is a great extra setting to use. If I had a second Fury I could stick it on 4k with most the eye candy and keep it around 60 as VSR/DSR is not as demanding as the real thing so yeah a pair of 970's would give a great 1080p experience. That is the 970's performance sweet spot.
