Hi All.

I have just moved into our new home and our en suite shower is being boosted by a pump that's located in the airing cupboard next to the hot water tank.. Problem is this thing is like a 747 taking off and the airing cupboard is right between the kids bedrooms and as you can imagine wakes them up if I shower after they go to bed.

I have tried running the shower with the pump switched off and it works but just not as powerful..

Would there be any long lasting effects to the system if I left the pump turned off?

Also are there any quiet version that i could install?? most people I have spoken to seem to think these pumps are just noisy buggers..

What make of pump is it and how is it mounted to the floor?

Will have to check the make of pump when i get home as i forgot to check but it looks like its just sitting on the carpet in the cupboard.

Edit: Just looked at a few pics online possibly a Salamander

This is how ours works due to new builds having water pressure akin to old men with prostate problems.

The pumps are never going to be silent, but when our first one went, the plumber who put the replacement in did a far better job on the fitting. There are some rubber bits to the mounting that cut a huge amount of the noise out compared to the previous one.

We have young children and they got used to the noise even on the old one. They just sleep through it after a while.

Check to make sure its mounted using an isolation kit, should be flexi pipes on all the pump water fittings and anti vibration mounts to the floor.

The pump is fed by four flexi pipes..

I will check the mounting tonight.. Although when i say its loud I mean really loud.. Its at the back of the house and I can hear it out the front with the front door closed.
